Semi-human mutant.

18+ only. Kids, I don't like you.

Not here to debate. My heart skips so if I debate you, you're gonna have to be the one to call the undertaker.

I'd like to keep a journal but it never works out.

@ChrisMayLA6@mastodon.me.uk RE: the article photo: It's nice to know that these scum-sucking "developers" are the same over there as they are here in the US. Building all the same house, just with a couple changes. I remember going to an honest-to-god suburban "development" for the first time, in my teens. I grew up in and still live in the country. The place was so lifeless and soul-deadening that it is still firmly fixed in my mind to never live in such a place.

Glitz, spectacle, and money cannot be used to modify all the building, electrical, and fire codes throughout the world; nearly every sentence in them was written in the memory of dead men. Neither can glitz, spectacle, and money be used to change the laws of physics. However, the tech sector currently runs off of glitz, spectacle, and money. Safety and difficult problems are languages they don't speak.

@flyingsaceur@ioc.exchange I'm sick and tired of comedy and jokes. About the biggest thing you could do as a "comedian" was get 5-10 minutes on a late night show. I think this was about the right setting for it. Then "comedians" started thinking they're these Ultra Wise People That Cannot Be Criticised and started getting people to believe in stuff that nobody involved knew anything about. Now it's to where nothing can be serious, everything has to have a stupid effing joke in it. Damn it all to hell.

@flyingsaceur@ioc.exchange I've always thought the performance of the Star Spangled Banner at events very strange. If it's something like an event relating to a war memorial or some really historic place, sure, it fits there. But sport events? Concerts? Very odd. It reminds me of the old British custom, now long dead, of playing God Save The King/Queen before every showing of a movie. One was obliged to stand up during the playing, naturally.

@anderstallvik@dice.camp When I was in my teens I got the idea to learn Russian. I got as far as learning how to pronounce Cyrillic. That was the sole foothill before I was met with large, imposing mountains teeming with intractable sheer cliffs. This did have a lasting effect, however. Every time somebody uses Cyrillic characters to try to look unique in a username, for instance, or to try to make something not-Russian look Russian, I pronounce it and wonder why it doesn't sound quite right.

@victorgijsbers@mastodon.gamedev.place This won't apply in Europe, but for US maps I heavily prefer the USGS National Map over anything Google has ever put out: https://apps.nationalmap.gov/viewer/ It's so much easier to see and read with the selection of colors and more informative. It has all the trails, Forest Service roads, and much more. Below I have attached most of Denver, CO and westerly areas, first in the National Map and then in Google Maps.

@victorgijsbers@mastodon.gamedev.place Another comparison, the continental US. Look how much more detail is in the National Map. Looking at the Google one, you get the impression the US is completely flat with essentially no rivers. It looks like a map that would be painted on the wall of a baby's nursery. I guess the Google one is where they let their boring, lifeless design aesthetic get in the way of transmitting useful information.

@flyingsaceur When I played the Civilization games and wanted to take a country, I was sure to beforehand get as many military assets in place as possible and try to make alliances with as many of their neighbors as possible. I mean, I read Norman Schwarzkopf's memoirs, but you don't have to do that to figure this out. I did before I read them! I figured this stuff out in my teens, no excuse for SecDef. But he's a drunk, his brain's probably fried from booze.
