We leave them "just" 2 or 3 houses fully manned with personnel, lifelong supply of food, a car with driver for each family member, free healthcare, education, and public transportation, plus a monthly allowance for top quality (not overpriced luxury) goods or service they may want. Until they die of old age. I'd wager that their impact on resources would then be tolerable, and the remaining wealth, managed as a fund, would generously pay for services to the community instead of being used to crush civil and peaceful coexistence. I'm ok with them living their best life, but without the amoral antidemocratic power allowed them by the excess money. As for their offspring, each generation should have the allowance halved. Soon they would be welcome back into humanity.

I agree with @bayindirh in this case defining masculinity with behaviors further away from toxic masculinity (show of affection and show of empathy to the point of crying, in an extremely public context) effectively dismantles the gender stereotypes highlighting their uselessness in setting role models. @PedestrianError @jeffowski

With the level of education, the quality of information, and the free time that they are given, I would be surprised of a different electoral behavior for most of the USA electorate.

@gvwilson@mastodon.social @sue@glasgow.social IANAeconomist, but... one thing is getting paid to have a sustainable activity, another is being *driven by* profit. A sustainable benefit-driven enterprise uses part of profit to both face uncertainty and improve the product/service: all the rest is literally a failure of a fair market (in the product chain up to the customer there's someone not paying the actual cost). As IANAeconomist, my take is just a layman's opinion, glad if someone provides better-informed corrections and possibly references.

Not a social scientist nor an economist here, just noting that this kind of approach hasn't worked well so far, and is at the root of enshittification of the whole user-generated information ("content") system. Could it be (just fantasizing here) that a socioeconomic problem powered by technology will hardly be solved by the technologically focused mindset that generated and fueled it? And instead we need cultural and social solutions? As anything involving groups of humans, the issues are political, and any proposed technology is bound to be appropriated and repurposed by power groups to defuse its potential for change and then reinforce their own power. What new tool will we produce to further our own enslavement?

Bad take: does it make sense to pollute the atmosphere at global scale to bring connectivity in rural areas, if we balance the improved quality of life of the few benefiting against literally the rest of mankind (to be specist)? An utilitarian and an individualist would have no doubts. I have a preference too but I don't think it's ok to abandon rural areas and minority conditions in general. So, the second doubt: how much would it cost to bring 5G equivalent connectivity even to remote places? Is it really more expensive than the satellite system? Even without accounting for the negative externalities? And accounting for them? and even if it were, wouldn't it be the only ethical choice (albeit expensive)?
