@foone
You forgot the part where a developer deletes production database and its all volume backups via an agent in 9 seconds, and forces the agent to confess the error.
Like the agent has its own mind.
Unbelievable.

I'll kindly disagree. Masculinity is framed as being inert as a rock at all times, and it takes a big toll on everyone.
Moving the definition of masculinity towards humanity is a good thing. We shall move all three words to the same point, so being human can't be defined in terms of being of a gender.
In short, this behavior is all three: Masculinity, femininity and humanity. These three words shan't have different meanings in this case.
We shall be humans first.
@woodenmachines@mastodon.social@parismarx@mastodon.online grid readiness and production readiness are not the same thing. I have experienced former because of unexpected load increase in our neighborhood (due to A/C). A bang, and three days of blackout. A bigger transformer had to be installed. EVs might have done that, but grids upgraded themselves pretty quickly.
This guy is warning about generation capacity, and he might be right but, I don't accept gas & coal as solutions.
So, listen but do your own research on top.
@buherator@infosec.place@codinghorror@infosec.exchange If it's going to help preserving valuable artifacts, I'm all for it, actually.
Sacrificing everything we built so far for the machine feels so inconsiderate, shallow and short-term thinking. Human civilization is more than that. Also, art is more than that.
@codinghorror
This is great:
Throwing paper planes onto the stage is a long-standing tradition.
Until his death in 2018, Professor Roy J. Glauber swept the stage clean of airplanes as the official "Keeper of the Broom".
Glauber could not attend the 2005 awards because he was traveling to Stockholm to claim a genuine Nobel Prize in Physics.
@brianmerchant@mastodon.social This is many things at once. First of all, this is disrespectful on so many levels. Also it shows another shift.
Before, we could say that these people played dirty. But this thing became ugly. A dark, off-putting type of ugly. It makes my stomach churn. I'm ashamed of being member of the same species with these people.
@fabio@manganiello.eu While this is valid, I'll ask the same question I ask everyone else:
Do these aftermarket ROMs work with a SIM embedded secure element?
These are devices which are triggered with "carrier notifications" and allow neat stuff like e-signing things.
When I looked at it, none of the aftermarket ROMs enabled that. IOW, the required notification didn't appear on the phone, so the feature is unusable.
This is a showstopper for me on the Android side. Anyone has experience on that?
@Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de This is a great number, but I have seen higher in my career. Unfortunately I either have no screenshots or lost what I already have.
5831.24 is pretty good though. Congrats for hitting, hope your head doesn't hurt. :D
@andybaio
The product made me happy.
(Yes, that's a homage to "that one". The one made me a high performance programmer and grumpy old man for vibe coders)
@MartinEscardo I completely agree, and I still strive to write lightweight, fast and responsive code, and take pride at that.
For anyone debating me on this, I point them to demoscene. Namely "elevated", ".the.product", and "debris".
@foone@digipres.club I knew what I was gonna find behind that link, clicked nevertheless and will give it a couple of good listens.
This song deserves more than being a meme.
@buherator@infosec.place@codinghorror@infosec.exchange
Not necessarily. There are private book collectors at one side, and people who do real research on these texts at the other side. Moreover, there’s no global and universal book list which you can look and say “let’s get these into a museum”.
So, protecting all rare books in museums and libraries is a worthy, but impossible goal for plethora of reasons.
Also, why don’t we try to be a little better person all around and be more considerate about what we do?

I personally prefer Kagi, and it also has many anti-ai features like AI image detection and SlopStop:
https://help.kagi.com/kagi/features/slopstop.html
While I don't use any AI, I applaud Kagi for what they're doing. You can go Full AI if you want, and No AI if you don't. The whole spectrum and then some.
@Archivist@social.linux.pizza@sundogplanets@mastodon.social
Yeah, that bothers me a lot, too. Writing a small tool for myself, considering to name it after I like, and what? A VC has ruined the name by using it for their doomsday machine.
