In fact, it fully makes sense that we have less and options, regarding #vpn and regarding basically any #IT service. Because #trust is vanishing.

In #itsec , there is always a level at which you must delegate your trust: with #PKI , certificate authority is a good example of this.

For example, informed people don't like to reveal their #IP information to their ISP. They can use a #DNS service, but then this one will know. VPN provider, ditto. Etc.

Especially in a #collapsing world, our options will vanish. #opensource will just slightly delay it. I see no escape to this at all 😨

@KlausGerdGiesen@chaos.social @jase@mastodon.art small update: #riseup gave me less bandwidth, i tried again #xeovo and if you feel OK with using wireguard, i find them extremely solid:

• block ads
• split tunneling (via wireguard app)
• LAN bypass (via wireguard "allowed IPSs" conveniently configured by selecting "exclude private IPs")

Being in Finland, this is at this stage my first choice.

Any feedback (technical or on the ethical side) most welcome!

I read so many good things from #nextcloud , i'm even tempted to move from my local #synology to an instance at #hetzner

Only things that are in the way are:
- I like the idea that my data is at home (well at least 1 copy)
- Migration of all data (will take long)
- Config of clients (family's devices)
- Cost, because hosting everything remotely might anyway be expensive

I'm looking for a math #math #teacher who could show me, in #trigonometry , why it is equivalent to measure the #tangent as "an oblic segment" (towards the X axis) and a "vertical segment" (on x=1)

It seems intuitivelly logical, but i can't find a way to properly demonstrate it.

Avec la fin des DM #e2ee en plus de toutes les merdes inhérentes à #meta , j'aimerais tellement que mes gosses arrêtent totalement d'utiliser #instagram 😨

Je n'aurais jamais du les y autoriser, c'est ma faute, mais je n'avais pas conscience de la gravité de la chose à l'époque...

Et maintenant, à 15 et 16 ans, alors qu'ils y maintiennent tellement de leur vie social en ligne (😞), les arrêter en plein vol relève de l'impossible, je trouve. Je vais les isoler à fond, de #meta mais aussi de 90% de leurs amis...

A moins de convertir les groupes d'amis avec 😅

Leur version "cloud" a-t-elle été améliorée, ou s'agit-il de la même interface que leur version serveur?
