A lot has been written about 'switching costs' and 'network effects' for why users stay on exploitive playforms like Instagram. With that in mind the key question is *how can we influence status quo change to healthier digital spaces?* For me, and any org like UGL, I believe irl advocacy is an effective method for advocating online status quo habit change e.g. - bulletin board type displays, workshops, presence at campus fairs, zine distribution, a fediverse student club...the slow, patient process of growing change from a tiny sprout to eventually bearing fruit. I agree that the fediverse is still in a 'raising awareness it even exists' stage for most potential users. I also believe framing the switch as potentially gradual, I.e. students creating low stakes 'escape hatch' exploratory fediverse accounts, is an approach worth promoting.

Degrowth is society wide reduction in production and consumption to align with Earth's carrying capacity - which we're currently far exceeding! For anyone interested who passes by there are plenty of accessible resources on degrowth. @DJDarren@mendeddrum.org Hopefully helpful (not a turnkey solution) I think what I hear you trying to achieve is usually done as tasks and not calendar events. Both tasks and calendar can be synced to your choice of standard compliant calendar and/or task app via e.g. the open CalDAV standard. Tasks.org (on fdroid) is one option, a good place to start, and does a good job explaining options. Https://tasks.org A setup might look like e.g. : Nextcloud calendar that syncs via Davx5 to your choice of Android app and separate sync to desktop app that displays tasks in a widget like you're describing. Interested to hear if you find a solution that works for you!

Why would Wired give his accounting credence when Copperhead immediately fell into irrelevance once Stinger moved on. Did Wired not reference court documents to corroborate and discern facts?
