#FairMusE, an EU-financed research project into fairness in streaming, has released its findings.
With the goal of answering: What music is rec’d by the big algorithms: Who is rec’d what, and why? Do all artists and labels get a fair chance?
Slightly hampered by services not releasing data on artist remuneration... but nonetheless some very interesting outcomes, in graphic form: https://dashboard.fairmuse.eu/
#yearinmusic 2025 is OUT NOW!
"A bit like Spotify’s Wrapped (but way super better, in my extremely biased opinion) your ListenBrainz Year in Music report summarizes your listening habits from throughout the year 2025… and now, back through time!"
Missed out? Sign up for a LB account and get listening for 2026. If you have existing 2025 (or earlier!) data in Spotify or lfm you’re in luck – import now and we will re-gen all YIMs at the end of Jan. -a

GSoC season continues to heat up! A mass of small improvements as students show us what they got.
Notably, a graph has been added to the "current status" page showing users joining, confirming the uptick felt since last year. -a

@MuuhdistMonk@social.freetalklive.com Wow, well my two contenders are in this image :)
Chorus by Mildlife was my top album last year and I just can't get enough of it.
Angine de Poitrine I only discovered two months ago but they are a strong contender for the pole position this year !

@akane You might like some of mine from last year. Some albums that are not necessarily my favourite but are very long are at the top, as can happen with soundtracks!
For ambient vibes from this lot I highly recommend Laika, Citizen Sleeper 1&2 (!!!), Roki, Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, and yes Starfield and Expedition 33 are good too but also long :D -a
