#Tardigrades... 500 million years of evolution and they survive in the most extreme conditions... without AI and without fucking up the planet humans... more or less 300000 years and in the last 200 years completely fucked up the planetary equilibrium that are required for its own survival this should just remind us to be a little more humble and stop thinking that we, humans, are the most evolved form of life

Aaron Swartz was a [h]ac[k]tivist who illegally downloaded the documents of JSTOR, a library of academic documents of all kinds, because he was convinced that knowledge should be freely accessible to all... This landed him in enormous legal trouble, which drove him to suicide in 2013...

isn't it ironic...
don't you think

devs do not like to write documentation...
and the only way to actually get something clean out of #AI is to write documentation, no code, just documentation...

it's like raiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin
on your wedding day

it's a free riiiiiiide
that you aleady paid

It's the good advice
that you just didn't take

And who would've thought?
It figures

At last a printer I could _not_hate...

Printers are either the proof that God does not exist or that he is an incredible sadistic bastard...

This #OpenSource printer might be the beginning of a new era !

How could one take finances seriously? I mean, the fact that stocks go up and down every time Trump has something to post or to say, and that most of the time it’s plain BS, does tend to tell me that finances is just a game for immature kids with way to much money that have no understanding whatsoever of what is really going on…

IMHO there are two options:

  • it will not be fully #OpenSource, including his "funky" algos
  • it will be fully OpenSource and there's something for him to get from it

#Musk is not the type of person to do this out of altruism

he did the same when opensourcing the Tesla's patents... The objective was not to be nice for the environment by accelerating the development of EVs worldwide... This allowed him to increase velocity in development and to set the market standard...

@GrahamDowns@mastodon.africa mmmh... I don't think this is human nature IMHO this is the nature of people who are addicted to power in essence, a democratic system ought to make sure those people are never in charge if citizens had more time to spend on thinking about these matters instead of having to worry about getting food on the table and to pay the bills, the power-addicted would definitely weigh much less on this keeping people miserable is the best way to keep them docile, no matter what ideology

New existential question popped up in my mind... Who is the person that thinks of the patterns that are printed on toilet paper? And how does that person work? Is there like a complete design team behind it? Do they make proofs of concept and have test panels that need to fill in a questionnaire? Or is it like just someone who asks his kid for a drawing... and go for it.

@Crell@phpc.social @b_viguier@phpc.social This also explains why, when creating two instances of an enum::case and using them as keys, there will only be one entry in both weakmap or splstorageobjects But if you use multiple instances of the same class, each one will have its entry

@b_viguier@phpc.social yes... there is a difference in the way the Garbage Collection works in theory, if I am to unset an object that is used as key, I think I prefer the Weakmap approach, where it also removes the entry from the map BUT... and this I did not know... when using an ENUM, the behavior is the same in both cases and the entry in the maps are preserved: see here: https://3v4l.org/tpnsc#v8.4.12

thanks for sharing @mwop@phpc.social kinda confirms my feeling very powerful if you're a confirmed expert, like you but if you're not [yet], AI takes away human's capability to learn from experience as it is focused on the end result and barely used like a sparing partner to improve oneself the tech industry is one of the first areas where this hits hard (soon no more juniors!) but this trend hit all areas relying on intelligence sure things get done, but at what cost for human experience & humanity?

Don't say « it's f*** hot » anymore... Say it's kokushobi !

Cuz naming things is the first step to make them exist...

This is exactly the opposite of, for instance, a US administration that bans words.
That's Orwell's Newspeak... Remove the words to express the concepts you don't want to see, and the whole concepts will disappear in the end...

#kokushobi, is just the opposite...

hello

wondering if someone in the #phpc community had any expertise in WAF (Web Application Firewall) technologies ?

Ideally looking for a #European cloud based solution..

I have found four of them that look promising, but have to admit lack the knowledge to really know:

https://www.myrasecurity.com/fr/
https://www.ubikasec.com/en/
https://baleen.cloud/
https://bunny.net/shield/

any thoughts on this ?

Did some hacking to use the Kindle Highlights, in context (that means, with the book's content) on my computer... First draft, very hacked, nothing tested... but it works It will be quite hard to inject this back into a format that is usable in Calibre (note... Kindle was a gift... and quite frankly, its a good eReader... but I never bought a book on the store and always work with EPUBs through Calibre) https://gitlab.com/belgeek/kindle-hightlights
