@MintSpies@beige.party
Fan of an eclectic mix of music, art, good puns and smut. UK-based secondary teacher by day; eating pies by night; the bit in between is mostly filled with jazz band and orchestra rehearsals.
I got here by fleeing mastodon.social. They say this isn't a cult...

I crouched down to stroke the little cat, and before I knew it, I was in-cat-pacitated. The burn in my thighs suggests that I need more training!

@sarahtaber@mastodon.online We couldn't possibly give children the ability to invoice people - think of the pocket money demands!

Went to a chap-hop gig last night (Professor Elemental, Thomas Benjamin Wild Esq, and Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer - strong recommend) and it was brilliant: great lyrics, ukeleles and excellent tweed. Why do I ache now?

Today's baking: less slumpy. Paying attention when weighing the water clearly helps.

@derbadian@mas.to I was going to ask if you'd got time-series data showing how the distribution of chocolate types has changed over the years, but then I realised quite how sad I sound, so I will refrain. Even so, I salute your dedication!

Spent the afternoon in the deceptively-cold sunshine watching the cricket. Turns out that clotted cream is not an effective insulator, no matter how delicious. Pah.

@TommyChristensen @ChrisMayLA6 Maybe because, in the vast majority of cases in the vast majority of countries, women are told these things significantly more frequently than men. And often not just told, but forced: anti-abortion legislation; female genital mutilation; policing of clothing and life-style...?

@wyatt_h_knott @ShiitakeToast That's a relief! I think I made sourdough scones during my sourdough escapades (which I think are most similar to your biscuits) but can't remember which recipe I used. They were delicious though, so good luck with your experiments!

@wyatt_h_knott @ShiitakeToast are you talking UK biscuits or US biscuits? I'm hoping it's the latter (I can't get my head round a leavened digestive or shortbread!)

@wyatt_h_knott @ShiitakeToast I haven't done sourdough for a few years (we can't eat it fast enough unless the whole family is home, and there's definitely not enough time to make it during term time!) and it was a whole different world of experimentation - kudos to you both for your contributions to bakery science!

@wyatt_h_knott Agree. The issue I had yesterday was that I got distracted by the arrival of the supermarket delivery lorry and couldn't remembered if I'd hit Tare on the scales before starting to add water to the olive oil, which led to estimation sadness all round - a genuine multi-tasking fail! 🤦

Far too chilly to expose any flesh on which to rub said cream - it's definitely a Big Coat day, whatever the sun suggests.

@inglesport It's brilliant that more people are out on the hills, but I do worry about the pressure this is putting on Mountain Rescue. We need some high profile TikTok influencers to start a safety campaign...!

@BetaCuck4Lyfe@kolektiva.social @tokensane@mastodon.me.uk @cmconseils@mastodon.social honest answer? We need a voice-controlled way to play music: the washing up chain started in 2020 and is still going strong - whilst washing up as a family after meals, we all take it in turns to choose a song which has to link to the previous song in some way, e.g. artist, word in the title, theme. A playlist wouldn't do the job, as we have to be able to react to the previous song; voice-control is essential.
