This is the definition of insanity.
We've tried this several times already and it hasn't worked, but perhaps this time it will.
No it will not!
Every single time #Canada has made a concession with the #US on #CUSMA (#USMCA) #DonaldTrump has found some other pretext to #Tariff us again.
#MarkCarney, STOP MAKING CONCESSIONS!

There is another explanation:
#MarkCarmey could have just wanted to make all of these "concessions" notwithstanding trade negotiations - in other words, he wanted to make cuts or giveaways to industries and is using trade negotiations with the US as pretext.
Either scenario is extremely concerning!

Well, if 1995-2003 - the Conservative Mike Harris years - are any indication, #DougFord is hiding a massive budget deficit and is planning to privatize and sell off public agencies to plug the budget hole.
This is exactly what happened starting around 2001.
The agencies being reviewed are: - Metrolinx
- Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
- Supply Ontario
- Liquor Control Board of Ontario
- Ontario Cannabis Retail Corporation
- Legal Aid Ontario
- Agricorp
- Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
I'll bet you that between now and April 11, 2030 at least one of those is no longer a public agency
Gotta love the justification too:
"...government spending has been under increased scrutiny recently, due to Toronto-area Progressive Conservative caucus members billing thousands in Toronto hotel stays.
Premier Doug Ford has said he told them to pay back "every single penny," but [Treasury Board President Peter] Bethlenfalvy today could not say if that has happened."

It's operated by Parks and Rec, not the TTC, so to participate in Presto would require a separate operating agreement and given how bad of a deal Presto is for the city on the TTC, it'd render ferry operations so expensive as to not be operable.

Fake tickets are a direct product of John Tory's administration's first outsourcing of online ticket purchases to Ritual, which was a wholly corrupt transaction in and of itself. In short, the Ritual CEO would purchase standard tickets through the City of Toronto's credit card purchasing portal on his points earning AMEX, the card with among the highest fees for the merchant (City of Toronto) then just re-sell them on his app at face value. He'd pocket the points and charge the city for the privilege!
RE: @GraphicMatt@mastodon.social
He could've been your Mayor #Toronto. Instead we got John Tory and SMRT Track!
Respectfully, no. That would invite a reaction.

Here's the thing, in a vacuum, and when dealing with a commodity, that would be a rational response: we've got fewer "medical human resources", we need to make it so they do more.
But that's a false premise.
-
As you point out, these aren't resources, these are human beings.
-
There continues to be an issue of government administrations that have a stake in privatization shaping this issue.
-
I'd say most important, and lacking in the debate, this doesn't address the compositional change of medical issues between when #Canada's #Healthcare system was created vs. today.
When Healthcare was setup in the 1950's the overwhelming majority of medical issues were emergent in nature, that is to say injuries and accidents.
Today the majority of care goes to chronic issues - cancer, degenerative conditions, etc. - in which outcomes are a lot murkier than "bone broken vs. not broken", including a factor difficult to measure: quality of life.
Fundamental reforms are needed.
For everyone that screams "25th AMENDMENT NOW!!!" all the time about #Trump, I'd like you to consider, for a moment, the consequences of that:
-
#JDVance was installed as the VP Candidate as a result of a deal between Trump and #PeterThiel
-
Peter Thiel & JD Vance are ardent followers of #CurtisYarvin, who advocates for Techno Feudalism, essentially a return to medieval times where nobility owned manors complete with resident serfs
-
The Office of the President of the United States has been vested with unitary powers via Supreme Court decisions and congressional indifference that would make the founding fathers sick
What do you think a JD Vance presidency would look like given that?
