Deeply flawed foolish mortal.

"…, and it has reminded us in its graver moments that life won’t last. And that for this very reason there are things more important than success or power."

— Some words from “What of the future? (In touch with the infinite)” from Public Service Broadcasting’s “This New Noise” album.

@CStamp @realtegan @mekkaokereke if we’re going to give billionaires and corporations tax breaks then feeding kids without means testing seems like small change.

@grammargirl@zirk.us these folks are stealing language to whitewash a con. In my opinion. Hallucination is a deviation from the normal way healthy human minds work. The confident incorrectness presented by the companies shilling AI is working as designed.

@ferryoons @wordshaper hopefully a few more parasitic US tech companies will vanish soon too. I can despise the companies without hating the folk I know who worked for Google.

@wordshaper@weatherishappening.network I have been realizing how many JavaScript bits in a 15 year old site I’m looking at could be replaced with modern CSS. Getting rid of code is always a good feeling. Even better than making it faster.

@wordshaper@weatherishappening.network @mhoye@cosocial.ca @algernon@come-from.mad-scientist.club let me suggest that C++ was the problem 😉 A proper OO response would have been to make the symbol table entries an s-expression, but if they had done that we wouldn’t have needed Perl.

@bruces @wordshaper “Long-term preservation of digital information is vital for safeguarding the knowledge of humanity for future generations.” If it’s digitized it’s crap. The amount of potentially useful physical evidence we discard while digitizing frightens me, and it’s not entirely clear future generations will have electricity, water etc. the way we’re going.
