> When adjusted for inflation, global worker pay declined 12% between 2019 and 2025, the equivalent of 108 days of free work during that time period. In comparison, CEO compensation increased by 54% between 2019 and 2025.

Sending up the #AskFedi bat signal.
For those of you out there who meet all three of these criteria:
- left handed, and
- have handwriting that's more eccentric than usual (by your judgment), and
- have a Remarkable (any model)
What are your experiences with the device? Like? Hate? Collecting dust? Invaluable?
Enquiring minds want to know, ideally before the end of the week.
Boosts welcome! Advice beyond what's requested is not! Many thanks! Exclamation point!
> But in the brave new world of Knitting Bullshit, all of that accumulated wisdom, all of the real history of knitting as labour, as resistance, as solidarity, as design intelligence, as craft, is now there simply to provide the powerful emotional currency that AI-generated podcasts and videos cynically mine for profit.
I finally got around to reading this Kate Davies post and it's ~3000 words of beautifully righteous rage.
Native Americans are asking The Apache Software Foundation, "…to take the necessary steps needed to express the ally-ship they promote so deeply on their website, to act in accordance with their own code of conduct, to “be careful in the words that [they] choose”, and change their name."
It'll be a big change, but IMO one that's necessary and overdue.
Well.
That's not at all an absolutely horrifying idea.
Nope.
(Headline: AI’s New Training Data: Your Old Work Slacks And Emails
Defunct startups are being liquidated for their Slack archives, Jira tickets, and email threads—operational exhaust that AI labs now treat as premium training data. )
This deserves a whole lotta attention. It's an incredible milestone for transparency in our government.
Who could possibly have foreseen this? Aside from anyone paying even the slightest bit of attention?
"One of the codebases…contained 2,675 distinct licensing conflicts, indicating the complexity of managing IP has grown exponentially…the mean number of vulnerabilities in code has nearly doubled since last year. Eighty-seven percent of the codebases had at least one vulnerability, 78% had high-risk vulnerabilities, and 44% had critical-risk vulnerabilities."
How in the hell is this a real headline that a real editor really put on a real article?
These people are going to The MOON, ffs. Let them share their excitement with the world without gatekeeping on whether their iPhone-snapped images are "science". The scientists will decide that, not public opinion.
jfc, people. Just let yourself experience some joy and wonder without judging, for crying out loud.
I have spent more than 30 years representing the people the food system failed…After all of those cases, after all of those depositions and funerals, you stop thinking of food safety as an abstraction. You build a short list of things you simply will not put in your mouth, and you stop apologizing for it.

This idea for a slow conference-via-zine is wonderful. So much more useful than people asking whether you're going to post the (utterly worthless w/o context) slides.
A reading list for when more information makes things worse.

"As a sense of dread creeps into more people’s lives, the specific threat may matter less than the ability to carry on in the dark. What happens when you accept the possibility of societal collapse — and then have to live with that conviction, day after day, year after year?
"…you can’t stay in panic mode forever. Especially if the crisis you’re confronting is not a sudden shock, but a slow unraveling."

Is there a way to display issue comments in @forgejo@floss.social from most to least recent and I'm totally not seeing it?
