@mttaggart@infosec.exchange at least on the mac side, most people completely ignore bypassing gatekeeper because every other app requires it. the alert fatigue just completely numbs people to having to bypass security mechanisms, that and the amount of times you need to just allow an app through, you don't even second guess needing to poke through as many permissions as is required
you have to allow it through gatekeeper every time you update times every app not downloaded from the app store and you end up not caring by the time you actually allow a threat through.
linux is becoming the same way as well. having to click allow every other time you open an app isn't good behavior it's just annoying.
@neurovagrant@masto.deoan.org if this keeps happening I think companies will be forced to block AI assistants as a security measure, which I can't be happier for.
@Charlotte@rivals.space@iro_miya@mk.absturztau.be could be worse. there's double sided micro usb and USB A. it's double sided because it physically moves to accomodate which side you plug in, and yes it's just as bad as you think
@strongsand@booping.synth.download ehh USPS sells your data to data brokers and openly invites junk mail to pass through their systems. can't really agree to call that cool.
@mttaggart@infosec.exchange I mean it's a logical conclusion, if you have a custom program wrapper or something it would eventually end up just lead to doing the exact same thing as a a curlbash, and a lot of the time the freedom that terminal apps aren't as secure is a benefit since it allows you to do far more invasive things with your system without triggering security mechanisms, it's just as much a downside as it is an upside
@u0421793@toot.pikopublish.ing@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org I do notice my wacom cth-680 does have a pretty substantial jidder issue when hovering that gets worse with more distance, there is less latency but I feel the resolution of the tablet is lower than any of my modern cheap tablets.
you can make really punchy bass without distorting the everloving shit outta your mix some genres are really happy with making their song sound like complete ass for no reason
the worst part about cable management is having to undo all of it when you take your desktop to a friends place at least I didn't vesa mount my main monitor :neocat_googly:
re: how to stop samsung phones' cameras from taking photos that look ai generated
this will also expose pretty badly how your phone sensor ACTUALLY is. some of the lower end phones have complete dogshit cameras and use AI upscaling heavily to make anything perceivable.
@halva@Starcross I had a sofabaton remote and they added a login screen for no reason for the remote that doesn't need an internet connection to function because they started selling a remote that DID require internet, for some reason.
Cant wait for my pro control to arrive
I cleaned up my rom library, got rid of a bunch of roms I'll never touch, cleared up like 10gb off my phone, I should probably also keep it to the games I'll actually play but lazy
I got some store brand soda because it was cheap and I'm curious on whether it's decent I don't care if it tastes like the thing it's cloning, I'm curious whether it stands on it's own merits.
@mttaggart@infosec.exchange if anything this just proves that the terminal is a criminally unsafe mechanism for interfacing with a computer, for all the benefits and downsides of that.
@mttaggart@infosec.exchange how else would you get programs from the internet? you're either copying code or downloading an app from a website that you just have to trust isn't compromised
If you're getting angry like "why are they putting aluminum in my deodorant 😠" then I should suggest you get your head out of your rectum and take a sip of dihydrogen monoxide
