My wife & kids are away (the kids at camp, my wife for a conference). As such, I have turned the living room into a proper bike shop. Currently 4 bikes in various states of repair - my wife's road bike, my father-in-law's brand new bike, the 9yo's new bike, and a folding bike. I have a new cassette for my mid-tail bike, too, but I think I'll order new tires first before I replace it. #BikeTooter

Here's our only air filter in the basement, the pc fan #CRBox. The basement is the same raw square footage as the first floor, and is divided up basically the same way (due to the way prior owners had remodeled the first floor to have an open kitchen, etc).
Yes, that is an #AQI of 4. Note that the basement is not particularly air-tight - the windows are leaky and old (we actually have water intrusion through one of them, and ants through another). There's a leaky door.

@cmnybo@discuss.tchncs.de @DanKhramov@lemmy.world Doesn't even need to be a newer CPU. I'm running Immich on an ancient dell laptop w/ i3-4010U. Not efficient in terms of CPU-per-watt these days, but that i3 chip isn't putting out much heat either.
As far as backups - snapraid sync runs nightly to ensure that accidental deletions or bitrot is caught. Restic backs up to a drive on a separate machine (in a different room of my house). I still need an off-site backup, but the hard drive shortages messed up my plans there..

The first floor has the following #CRBox. However, it also has two Coway Airmega AP-1512HH as well. They are too noisy on high, so they run on medium. However, I'm pretty convinced that the CR box is doing the heavy lifting here. But since we spend more time on the main floor than anywhere else in the house, I wanted extra air cleansing (esp for when kids get sick).
That's an AQI of 2. The CO2 monitor shows pretty high CO2 because everything's closed up due to the heat.

I had plans to do proper measurement of the how well these things actually clean compared to a traditional box fan CR box, and the Airmega devices (especially after someone on here argued w/ me that they couldn't possibly work, lol). But life got in the way, so I haven't. However, my air monitors are telling me that they work, so I'll keep using them. I really need to build a 3rd one, as a matter of fact.
I used the filters for about 18-21 months before replacing them.

The smallest bedroom is more of a closet than a bedroom. A queen-sized bed barely fits. Air leakage is absolutely minimal - it has one outside wall and window, and I replaced that window (insulating pretty well in the process) a few years ago.
Yet, somehow the AQI is at 10. This Airmega should have no problem with the square footage; it really is only like 100sf.

The intent is for people to be able to use/share/rework, without $military or $evilcorp doing so. In reality they do it anyways (see: every AI company), AND Debian can't include it or a nonprofit that's doing good things can't use it as part of a fundraiser.
That's why I don't think software licenses are necessarily the proper place to apply pressure..

The 2nd floor of this rowhouse is where the bedrooms are, and it's broken up into individual rooms. Because of space constraints, each room has a Coway Airmega AP-1512HH (running on high despite the noise). Look at the difference - this is the master bedroom (sorry for the blurry pic). An AQI of 42. The master bedroom is about 1/4 of the size of the basement.

I can't express the frustration I feel on a daily basis when I'm trying to ignore my kid's random noises while finishing up an email to their doctor and then suddenly a message pops up and now I can't remember wtf I was going to say. Like, multiple times per day this happens.
I'm kind of jealous that my kids get to go to sleepaway camp, especially afterwards when they come home and talk about it.
When I was the 14yo's age, I spent my summers watching shitty reruns on TV. Basic over-the-air-with-like-7-channels TV; we didn't have cable. I would often go to a friend's house (who had cable) to watch MTV. It was incredibly boring.
