@dotpk@bsd.network Indeed it is. Android switched to cdc-ncm - network control mode since the Pixel 6. I'm still looking into the details but I want to get it working on #OpenBSD. #NetBSD has a driver since their newest 11 release, so thats probably a good think to relate to.

Hey there #NetBSD people, I am thinking about installing NetBSD on a Linux-only VPS provider, which I have done a lot already with FreeBSD, thanks to the mfsBSD project, which lets you install FreeBSD from a RAM disk. Does something like that also exist for NetBSD as well? I would love it if I could just attach a custom ISO, but a lot of cheap VPS providers only give you a list of 5-6 Linux distros instead.

WELP, I attempted to install #NetBSD today, but I ran into some serious problems. Namely, after following the instructions on the official website to write the installer image to my USB thumbdrive (which keep changing what the block size should be!), the resulting drive fails to find the kernel and won't go further than the boot prompt. I'm trying some other dd flags and am about to try again, but if this doesn't work SOMEBODY is going to need to step up. Tagging @netbsd@mastodon.sdf.org because you're the most obvious person here to ask for help with installing NetBSD

Given there's been a lot of improvements to the Log File System in #NetBSD -current, here's how you can install a system to boot to an LFS root:

Thank you, @dch@bsd.network One of the peculiarities of littleFedi is that it was developed and tested first on the BSDs, then on illumos, and only later on Linux. The first public instance, my own @stefano@rpi0w.stefanomarinelli.it account, runs on a Raspberry Pi Zero W with NetBSD. I don’t think many social platforms have started out on NetBSD in recent years. #NetBSD #FreeBSD #littleFedi #Fediverse

I want to publicly thank @dch@bsd.network The FreeBSD port of littleFedi was already ready at release time, and it’s really well done. It is amazing how without fail search engines respond to searching for #NetBSD resources with pages related to FreeBSD. Also it's hilarious how bad slop pages for NetBSD are. Just referring to Linux and FreeBSD commands, configuration, and packages that do not exist on NetBSD.

Alright, serious question for #NetBSD experts: is there any way to mount and access a BTRFS partition in NetBSD? I have been looking and looking and LOOKING for information about this, but keep finding crappy dead ends. I need some means of being able to mount two BTRFS partitions so that I can migrate the data to something that both Linux and NetBSD will use. Here is what I have found: 1) https://github.com/adam900710/btrfs-fuse A read-only FUSE driver for BTRFS. Appears to be Linux only? 2) https://github.com/rustutils/btrfsutils Buried in here is another read-only FUSE driver for BTRFS. Again, seems to be aimed at Linux only. 3) https://github.com/maharmstone/btrfs WinBtrfs, Windows-oriented... but is willing to relicense to make it BSD-friendly. https://github.com/maharmstone/btrfs/issues/531 4) https://github.com/lkl/linux/ Linux Kernel Library, aka LKL, which allows for using the Linux kernel as a FUSE driver. There is a version for FreeBSD: https://www.freshports.org/filesystems/lkl/ but even I, a complete newbie to the world of the BSD Boys, knows that FreeBSD and NetBSD are completely different operating systems, so I have no idea how portable this is to NetBSD. However if this DOES work with NetBSD, then this would be an excellent solution...
