After yesterday's failed run, where I tried to go out and clear my head after the crap news we got - I only managed 1km and walked about 2 more - which means that there's a serious change to our future way of enjoying life. It was good to be out even if it was only half the distance that Gunnery Sergeant "Suunto" Hartman said I should do.

Well Erykha Badu your absolutely brilliant album Baduizm isn't an album to be losing a lung or two on a 1800m high Pyreneean mountain top to. It is more a sitting next to a log fire while looking at a Pyreneean mountain top album.

As we were going up, the 250m directly up, we were passed going downhill by two clearly local runners storming down. I kept an eye on them and they were zooming along the bit of flat trail that I deemed to be rough and near un-runable.

What a glorious day for a run and a stunning location. Views of 2700m+ mountains with fresh snow, greener than green valleys and view out to the flatlands down below. Not a technical route which meant that near the end we had to share the trails with other people that had the audacity to be out in public. I think I saw more humans today than I have over the last year combined when out running. Not used to getting these weird looks when singing or talking to myself ;)

Well why we call something steep and sometimes put a quite naughty expletive in front really showed its face today. The two first bits of up, gave me a good workout and the last one was knackering but fun as it was a scramble up to the peak. Sadly the downhill was very steep also so not much running as there were many a zigzag and tree roots hidden under fallen leaves. So it was more a power hike than a run today.

Ok let's see what we can blame this slow run on. Much work during the week so no training, cold weather, shoelaces that wouldn't stay tied up and the carbs drink not doing anything to help speed me up. Yeah I think that will do, nothing to do with the little visit to a local brewery yesterday ;)

We have been reading up and kinda understand that when running long, for me, and the lass cycling up the various Cols here. We are rather low on carbs, we are reasonably ok on protein intake, but carbs should be more. Hence trying out a drink, taste not to bad and so far agrees with my digestion system.

Else it was a good and fun route, even if it was much flatter that what I'm used to run.
