@ahltorp @coolandnormal @acb @alice @LukefromDC Even if this was true, and I highly doubt it, I'd take occasional "client is stupid and requests sex work during a normal massage" over "sex workers are often getting trafficked, abused and sometimes murdered", which happens way more when it's illegal. Also, as someone else said, what you described will happen way more often when sex work is illegal, because no one will know which massage places offer illegal services. And it will be more dangerous for workers in those that do, because if they report an abusive client, they will admit to crime.

@ahltorp Swedish model has plenty of other issues. clients paying for sex work are already commiting a crime, which makes sex work more dangerous, especially for self-employed sex workers.the "reporting on yourself for a crime" issue persists, it just shifts to someone else. If a client notices that the worker is probably trafficked or abused, they can't report the brothel without admitting to a crime.

@skylark13 @paoloredaelli @thibaultamartin I hope they aren't / won't become terrible as well, but I really like what people around Zen browser are doing with it. It's Firefox based, keeps up well with current Firefox versions, and actually has some cool browser innovations instead of bloat that nobody wanted

@tommi@pan.rent @fraxinas@chaos.social I am really curious how much will they feel the impact of their actions. Because the people I've seen promote their mission and products the most were people who's reaction is the same as yours... Might be just my social bubble though.

@alina@girldick.gay I went through first half and learned Rust, but after finishing, I had a working NixOS installed on all of my devices as well. Is it a documented side effect?

Ugh. I'm getting more and more tired and annoyed by my current work situation. Apparently getting hired by a corporate for some stability over startups I worked for before isn't exactly what I hoped for, and I am demotivated and closer and closer to burnout.

If anyone knows about something fun for someone who worked few senior level Rust jobs, lead a team and knows her way around Nix and on some level K8s, I'd really consider switching :) (bonus points for none or minimum AI)

For people living in Czechia (not necessarily Czech people)

This june, the EU Pay Transparency directive must be implemented by all member states. The way it's implemented matters though. We at ICT Union are certain that many interest groups want to make the local version as toothless as possible. We will fight to make it better.

As one of steps on our side, we launched a survey to map the current state - please contribute so we have as much data to work with as possible.

(Boosts appreciated)

@leeloo@chaosfem.tw @nev@status.nevillepark.ca @zkat@toot.cat @Ashedryden@xoxo.zone It also consists of organizations that defined and steered the whole movement from the start. Even Free Software Foundation itself can't remove people like Stallman from their leadership role. The definition of FLOSS could include those politics. It doesn't.

@DJGummikuh@mastodon.social @alice@lgbtqia.space this can also be applied to the opt-out notification which they claim is "informed consent". Not only is it wrong, as informed consent requires the "informed" part before the "consent" part, but as you just demonstrated, the information can be completely missed. My point was to show that it takes basically no effort to come up with a low barrier opt-in solution, instead of their approach: Argue with, anger and get banned from plenty of instances.

@stephen@neurodiversity-in.au @aral@mastodon.ar.al newspaper photographer takes that photo and publishes it without your consent. Newspaper gets sued for breach of GDPR. And even if it wasn't the case, while it is possible the same way it's possible to scrape mastodon instance, it would be considered highly unethical to publish private information like this without consent or without censoring them. Try harder next time

@stephen@neurodiversity-in.au @aral@mastodon.ar.al I know, some countries don't care about privacy of people. The point that it would be widely considered unethical still stands. Which is the same for mass scraping of Mastodon instances without consent.

@tommi@pan.rent @fraxinas@chaos.social On the other hand, any time I've seen some news about Framework products, right wing tech bros generally went "meh, It's too expensive, I can just buy a new laptop instead of upgrading Framework". The ethical and ecological aspects of this don't appeal to them, only the "cool tech" one.

@joepie91@social.pixie.town @fiercemilder@mastodon.ie Exactly my thought. If they want to play with ActivityPub, no one can prevent it. But the first thing every reasonable instance should (and all I know also would) do is to defederate, instead of attempting to catch up with their features. E/e/e worked well with XMPP, because we left the decision to defederate on them, and they did it only after securing dominance. That won't happen if we make our move first.
