What I Mean When I Say I'm Tired
I don't mean I want to sleep.
I mean I want to disappear for a while.
To be rain on a stranger's roof.
To be smoke rising from someone else's fire.
I don't want to die.
But I do want to rest in a way
the world has never allowed me.
I don't want comfort.
I want quiet.
I want the mercy of being unseen
without being unloved.
Help settle a bet: Gay Dudes versus Lesbians, who's generally cat-people versus dog-people? Or is it a Masculines versus Feminines thing?
Me, just trying to walk at a normal pace during tourist season.
Up to S1E14 Angel One of my TNG rewatch.
Hoo-boy-howdy, do I have opinions about this episode. I'll save 'em for the podcast (still looking for a cohost), but I will say this: HOLY SHIZZ, I FORGOT HOW HAIRY JOHNATHAN FRAKES IS.
ST:TNG S1E25 Conspiracy: Data is talking to himself while absorbing information from a computer terminal. The computer thinks he's talking to it.
Computer: Command not understood, please repeat.
Data then goes on and on explaining why humans (and he) talk to themselves until the computer finally says: "Thank you sir, I comprehend."
Penultimate episode of the season, but that was legit funny.
I'm worried that the VM on my MBP might be slightly overheating...
Let's just add another tally to my "I can forgot to take my speed prescription any time I SQUIRREL!!!!" counter.
Fucking bag o' cats nonsense...
"Portugal will get you hill-fit.", they said.
My week:
Also the case in Portugal.
And fam, I do NOT want to admit to how long it took me to accept this. For weeks I was like, "none of these multipacks are already open, and I'm not going to break the seal on one". I since *have* gotten over this, but it took way too long.
@alex@feed.yopp.me Yeah. This will now be my fourth* 3D printer, so I know what to expect, including all the frustrations that come with these things.
I don't care. I'm SO here for it. LFG.
- Technically fourth, but my first was... not a serious device, and my third was (very nearly) the exact same printer. I got a Core One (not plus) in March(ish?) 2025. Ex took it in the divorce (honestly, I was fine with this since moving it to Portugal would have been a hassle anyway).
Her: Working on PTSD with doc, had me take a quick self-assessment thing to identify some magnitudes and specifics. (IES-R)
Me, Fully aware of my PTSD and a fan of such exercises: Oooh, I'll look this up and have a go...
(a few minutes later)
Me: Hrmm, summary just gave a number, where's the scale... Oh, there's the scale. Yeah, that checks out...
Her: What was the number?
Me: 58 (self-assessment threshold is 33)
Her: Fucking hell.
Me: Oh, c'mon, you've met me.
Preteen: Monthly night terrors.
Teens: Couple times per year.
Early 20: Back to monthly.
Late 20s to 40s: Couple times per year.
49: Back to monthly.
This month: Six and counting. Two of them tonight alone.
Could my brain kindly just get fucked? Perhaps before the neighbors call the cops?
Something vibe "coders" will never truly understand.
Trip to Ikea just now (recon mostly, only bought a few small items), was incredibly chill. Maybe my most relaxing Ikea trip ever.
Yeah, it was working hours on a Tuesday, but also... it was completely familiar. The layout is bog standard Ikea, and yeah everything not in Swedish was in Portuguese, but whatever... they're ace at pictograms.
It was all just... familiar.
