I am not interested in #football at all, but reading all the headlines of this #shitshow the last few weeks, makes me actually root for #Belgium to kick the #usa out of the #WM2026

Then again, I am not sure what would happen, if they did. Could be that #trump will call #infantino again, asking him to rethink the goals that Belgium shot...

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad (it's "they stole our election" all over again).

And it's easy for me to say - as again, I am not a football fan to begin with - but I don't understand how anyone that is an enthusiastic football fan can still support this by watching the game (and for the teams, why they are still competing).

The #email address is one of the most important services you have: It is not only used for communication, but as part of the login credential for nearly all other services it also serves as your digital identity and backup for most of your accounts (e.g. when you need to reset your password, etc.). That makes it your most important hub for all digital services, and becomes a detailed profile of your digital life in itself.

It therefore needs to be #secure - but also respect your #privacy. And it should be #reliable and support your #souvereignity.

The most used email provider #Gmail by #Google might be secure, but most definately neither respects your privacy, nor your #souvereignity as it is one of the #US #BigTech companies that would delete your account if their fascist leader wills it (plus Google's #SundarPichai and #SergeyBrin are openly supporting him).

Time to switch to an #EuropeanAlternative - after some reserach and evaluating the three biggest contenders, I chose to go with @mailbox_org@social.mailbox.org. It'll cost you at least 1€/month, but this money ensures that they won't try to cover their costs by selling your data.

As a bonus, #mailbox_org also provides other services you know from Google, like Calendar, Contacts, Drive, Documents (Text, Tables and Presentations), Chat and Webcam Meetings, Polls and Shared Notes. There's a private and a corporate option, as well as a family option (that I have yet to explore - not quite sure how it works and what benefit it brings). But most importantly, it's #German company following #EU laws, has multiple certifications and simplifies the usage of #GPG for non-techi users, while giving techis the freedom they desire.

Switching one's email is a tedious endeavour - but I believe that this is the most important service to migrating. If there is only one service you want to migrate, let it be the one that gives you access to all other services - or practically cuts you off, if someone else gains access to it!

I am tackeling my next project in moving away from #BigTech and #USTech companies. This one is one that is really hard for me, and that pains me a bit: I'm moving away from #GitHub - it's hard for me, because I've been brought up with #SVN and instantly fell in love with #DVCS, and with #git I instantly also started using GitHub. And I really used it like their slogan suggested: Like "facebook for programmers". I followed friends and colleagues, followed projects I loved and people that seemd interesting to me, and even had a couple of discussions that started with a commit or new repository on Github. Plus, I love their mascot and have a huge amount of stickers featuring #Octocat - to me GitHub was a crucial part of my programming hobby and upbringing.

However, since #Microsoft accquired it, my engagement got less, even though I stayed, because no other solution at that time was remotely what I wanted and loved about GitHub.

Since then, lots of things have happend; GitHub fired people that spoke out against the capitol attack, it does business with ICE, and is now monetizing the works of millions of open source developers with their integration of AI in GitHub that you never agreed to and cannot opt out of. And GitHub's parent company openly supports Trump, and meddles in international juristriction and politics by blocking political enemies of the Trump regime from their accounts (i.e. the E-Mail account of ICC Prosecutors).

I think I won't delete my old GitHub account; but active and new repositories will be moved to @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de - I am not sure if it is the right home for me, or if I long-term will be hosting my own @gitea@social.gitea.io or @forgejo@floss.social instance; but for a start I think it is the right thing to do, and as I am currently working on something I would like to put under versioning, now is the best time to do it. So if you want to follow along, here is my new repository host:

Ich verstehe das nicht. Wir haben aus guten Gründen den Art. 22 GG, welcher Deutschland davor schützen sollte, dass gegen die freiheitlich demokratische Grundordnung oder dem Bestand der Bundesrepublik Deutschland agiert wird.

Die AfD ist laut Verfassungsschutz gesichert Rechtsextrem, es gibt ein Gutachten dass einen Erfolg im Verbotsverfahren sieht, 2024 gingen mehr als eine Millionen Menschen gegen Rechtsextremismus auf die Straße, 2025 sind in 60 Städten mehrere 10-tausende Menschen für ein AfD-Verbot auf die Straße gegangen, aktuell erleben diwr die größte Demonstration der BRD-Geschichte gegen den Parteitag einer Partei, regelmäßig gehen Menschen auf die Straße, die für ein Prüfverfahren sind.

Stattdessen kommt von der Politik nur "man müsse sie Inhaltlich stellen". WO PASSIERT DAS?! Jetzt machen sich die Politiker alle in die Hosen und versuchen irgendwie mit Umwegen zu verhindern, dass die AfD-Landesregierungen Geheimnisverrat der gefährlichsten Art begeht, dabei GIBT ES DEN ART. 22! Also, noch mal, WO ZUR HÖLLE BLEIBT DAS VERF-TE VERBOTSVERFAHREN, liebe #bundesregierung, #bundestag oder #bundesrat ?!?

Ich war noch nie in meinem Leben so Politikverdrossen, und habe mich noch nie so verloren und im Stich gelassen von der Politik gefühlt, wie dieser Tage. Aber ist wohl nicht so schlimm, wie wenn ein paar "linke" Buchläden einen Buchpreis bekommen. Oder, dass irgendwer ohne AU Krank zu Hause bleibt. Da geht die wahre Gefahr von aus.

Today I was greated by my #IDE with this splash screen. So happy birthday #Kotlin

I wouldn't have tried it out myself, but I was lucky enough to have had a customer project were we could decide the programming language, and mid-project switched it from #Java to #Kotlin, and - as a decades old Java developer - it was one of the best experiences I had. Unfortunately I am now in a Java project again (the customer could not be convinced to change to Kotlin, "because of the market" and their staff that only knows Java (moot arguments if you ask me, but it is what it is).

And I can only recommend anyone - especially Java developers (and even more so if you have tried Scala and found out: It's not for you) to give it a try. At the core it's just like Java, but without all the hassle and baggage of a 31-year old programming language.

I especially like the first part of the sentence, i.e. #attention being the most valuable #resource these days - this is something you should internalise. It's an investors perspective and it's verisimilitude is confirmed by the company values of this industry (#Meta , #Google, #Twitter, etc.).

From an individual perspective this is true as well - for you and me attention means #time, and time is the only resource we'll never be able to gain, we automatically lose it with every passing second.

It's therefore outrageous how much time people give away freely, to companies, who's business model is maximizing the time you spend on them. And just as a side note - apparently, according to the newsletter this quote is taken from, soon Meta will even ask you to pay for it. Absurd. Yet, in Germany the average #screentime is ~5h per day, with nearly 3h going to #socialmedia apps like #Facebook, #Instagram, #tiktok etc.

I wonder, what's your life worth to yourself?

Funny. Hat eigentlich auch Jens Spahn (CDU) schon gezahlt? 3,5 Milliarden Euro Schaden sollen dem Bund dadurch entstanden sein. Eine Verzehnfachung des Schadens von Andreas Scheuer (CSU) bei der PKW Maut (300 Millionen). Hat der schon gezahlt?

Ist nämlich wirklich sehr funny. Die Einsparung im Bürgergeld holt nur 20% dessen wieder rein, was der Scheuer damals veruntreut hat, und gerade mal 1% dessen was der Spahn da veruntreut hat.

Also mal eine ernst gemeinte Frage liebe #NoCDU - WER betrügt hier eigentlich mehr? Der Arbeitslose der einen unzumutbaren Job nicht annehmen möchte, oder mal seinen Termin verpasst? Der sich vielleicht im letzten Job was angespart hat, das ihr ihm jetzt direkt wegnehmen wollte? Oder doch die mehreren Milliarden, die hier in den Jahrzehnten der CDU-Regierung dem Staat geraubt wurden? Denn wusstet ihr? Das C in CDU steht für Vetternwirtschaftliche.

Aber mal ohne Witz - wen wollt ihr da eigentlich verarschen, wenn ihr dem alleinstehenden Erwachsenen die 563€ die er bekommt (für Nahrung, Kleidung, Hausrat, Körperpflege, Strom) auch noch sanktionieren wollt? Ihr solltet Euch was schämen das mit der Aussage "Wer betrügt, muss zahlen" zu rechtfertigen.
