@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange the thing is apparently Mario Sunshine was based off 64's movement code, walking around a mountain transitions instantly from "walking without slipping sideways" to "instantly made to face up the mountain while sliding backwards", and probably wasn't constrained like SM64. I wonder if it was "if it ain't broke don't change it"? (SM64DS *did* change the physics, and some players dislike it.)

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange what's the tradeoff of storing speed as a facing and forward speed, rather than facing and XY speed independently (allowing movement in directions other than your facing direction or straight backwards)? IIRC SM64 only has sideways motion in the air?

@tranquillity@mastodon.minionflo.net there are ways to give homedir access (flatseal/kde settings), i think I had to give full access to Discord to fix drag-and-drop from external drives not in my homedir

interesting... suspecting the spiny stem of native Rubus protects the plant from being eaten by snails
most of the eaten leaves are where the vines are touching other surfaces like walls and trees
probably Armenian doesn't get protected the same way, because it has sparser larger spines and the snail can crawl in between

i did feel a lot of Nintendo fan projects were developed too openly with not enough opsec and bulletproof hosting, like they had no plans to keep Nintendo from finding the project, sending the C&D like countless times before, and finding their home address

@kde@floss.social I'd like to concur with a comment on that post:
Pulling up ones pseudonymous twitter is not doxxing.
Additionally it was a bad look to keep the comments of a user who was known to say reprehensible things about race, while wiping the posts exposing the behavior (at least while #187 was still publicly visible)... I hope in the future you do not protect the public visibility of people who say harmful things, over others exposing those harmful views.
