I find deeply fascinating how PDF, despite working on paged layout and targeting print, is part of the hypertext web after all. It can be linked to, it can contain links, browsers can render it effortlessly

Free speech, we give you access, participation, interaction und so weiter und so fort.

  3. Monopolprivileg.

#typst tip: Citation references such as @aargh support arbitrary content after them via square brackets! If used for denoting position, this can save curious readers a lot of time when looking for context:

  • For videos and podcasts, I use timestamps: @tomscott-decay[09:15]
  • For interviews or multiple participants, I like adding who says it, too: @nyt-interview-kristen-stewart[Kristen Stewart at 23:47]
  • For series, I use the character, season and episode: @andor[Luthen in S01E03]
  • For books, I use chapters (as just the page number can easily differ across editions): @the-humane-interface[chapter 4-2-1 "Interface Timings", p. 75]

This supplement ends up being delimited with a comma, e.g. [7, 09:15]

@lorenzofb Reading through their blog, I wonder what their motivation is. They do behave manipulatively, this is straight up DARVOing (https://deadeclipse666.blogspot.com/2026/04/public-disclosure-response-for-cve-2026.html) Unfortunately, the folks who have the capacity to stop those disclosures, not only don't care but also seems to push harder for worst exploits to be released, I didn't want to be evil but they are actively poking me to start releasing RCEs which I will be doing at some point... The rest of their blog seems to build on shared experiences (frustration with the MSRC, which I've heard very often, too) to draw a more positive image of themselves. They create an ingroup of the "research community", show their allegiance and sympathy with them, and cast out MS from it. A guess: They are extorting MS and are trying to build public sympathy in an attempt to preempt collective pressure

Mein Lieblingszitat (Formattierung meine):

In der Zeit nach dem Fortschritt
werden Gewinne und Verluste in einer Nullsummenlogik
miteinander verknüpft:
Was die eine gewinnt,
muss zwangsläufig ein anderer verlieren.
Verteilungskonflikte kippen in die Horizontale.
Voneinander unabhängige Prozesse
werden über falsche Zusammenhänge
amalgamiert und projektiv verknüpft:
An der maroden Infrastruktur sind die Linken,
am blockierten Aufstieg die Geflüchteten Schuld.
Aus dem Gefühl des blockierten Lebens
erwächst eine hyperindividualistische Weltwahrnehmung,
in der Fortschritt nur noch
auf Kosten anderer möglich ist.

Replying to
@mullvadnet@mastodon.online That is abhorrent. Doesn't exactly make it easier that "age verification" (some mechanism of proof) can actually be "age attestation" (enter data yourself), as it's the case in e.g. the California bill: This bill, beginning January 1, 2027, would require [...] an operating system provider, as defined, to provide an accessible interface at account setup that requires an account holder, as defined, to indicate the birth date, age, or both, of the user of that device [...]. see https://blog.giovanh.com/blog/2026/03/22/os-level-age-attestation-is-the-good-one/ ∧ https://blog.giovanh.com/blog/2026/03/22/identity-verification-is-as-bad-as-it-can-be/ I don't think keeping the status quo is politically feasible right now, but we can definitely get an explicit distinction through to go for attestation
blog.giovanh.com

OS-Level Age Attestation is the Good One

We need OS-level age attestation systems *because* age verification tech is unbelievably dangerous.
