mastodon 4.8.0-alpha.3+glitch
  • Open on infosec.exchange

I've been in and out of information security professionally, but somehow always have related projects. Mainly working with zeek and network level detection at the moment. SDR, cycling, and climbing enthusiast.

I boost a lot. Topics range far and wide from security and "the cybers" and may include politics, food, humor, science, law, nature, art, and other sundry unsavories. I occasionally post my own projects and thoughts.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org It's unfortunate it's really hard to retrofit an intersection that has grown without traffic planning for that long. What the freeway really needs is a tight corner right before hitting the intersection, so anyone going too fast goes off the road into some buffer space. Unfortunately, you have to use eminent domain to take property away from someone to create that buffer space.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org "Quantize" is exactly what f's up my drum solos on any digital drum kit because it wants to fence me into a beat pattern often slower than what I am playing and "line all the notes up".

I imagine it'll go the same way as twitter at some point, where the use is just gone for the "users". shrug emoji

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I did organize my entir4e book collection by library of congress call number at one point. It wasn't great. Last name of artists / Band name has worked pretty well for dipping in to music. There are of course cover songs written by someone else, but If I want say "Intruder" by Peter Gabriel, vs the Primus cover, I pretty much know what I am getting when I organize by Band/ artist.

One of my junior high friends in the 80's had a father that work for Priam, a disk drive manufacturer at the time. He would bring home rare earth magnets (samarium cobalt) that we would prank the PE coach with by sticking them to a locker and betting him he couldn't pull them off. What sorts of magnets are in those speakers?

(Snow and rain at the same time. ) Also, if you get up to New England you may see snow, rain, hail, lightning and freezing rain at the same time. This is what is locally referred to as "mixed weather". (I'm not actually sure if it's a thing these days with climate change, but back when most tech people were working on Y2K it certainly was. )
