I took two of the kitties (Jasper & Rigby) out for a little touch grass time. They thought I said EAT grass and proceeded to do just that. They both freak out when I get out their harnesses and can hardly sit still long enough to put it on them.
The neighbor kitties came over too but they largely ignore our cats as they see them on the catio all the time and I think both teams have long said all of the hissing that was necessary. It was a very nice day outside away from the chaos indoors.
I cherish my morning coffee. Not just the beverage itself but the brewing ritual. I normally only drink one cup in the morning and very occasionally one in the afternoon. Today I treated myself to a second cup and now I’m like a buzzing bee.🐝
Time to get a few things done while I’m full of energy! 🫨

@GertrudeZane SO glad she suffered no ill effects. Our Tigger had the same when he was trapped by my SIL. So many feral and shelter kittens suffer with eye infections. When I was rescuing, I always had ophthalmic antibiotics on hand to treat any kittens I could wrangle. If caught early the outcome is almost always full recovery.

@ricci@discuss.systems great thread, Rob. I worked for one of the big cloud providers and got to spent quite a bit of time with the datacenter team before I retired. I was blown away by the innovations being implemented to reduce power and cooling requirements. All of that is moot now. We were talking about the potential of 25kW racks. Now they’ve completely blown past that with 100kW racks. It’s insane.

@neil I read a LOT more before the internet. With the internet going to shit at an ever increasing pace, I’m back to reading for at least 2 hrs a day, mostly before bed time. If I have no commitments I can read all day long. I find my mental wellbeing always feels improved after reading a book where reading garbage on the internet makes me want to jettison myself into the vacuum of space.
I’ve also found that I attribute more value to physical books over ebooks.

Novice users are often ill equipped to understand the risks entailed and seeing extremely popular projects using this just method tells the novice, "this is totally normal to be asked to paste a mysterious command into my terminal”.

@jay I retired from tech in 2021. For as long as there has been RSS I’ve followed the same RSS feeds from countless tech blogs/sites. Today as I browsed hundreds of new articles I realized just how shitty all of the news is across tech. It’s no longer an industry full of potential. It’s is an industry that has been hijacked by oligarchs and authoritarians. It is an industry in collapse. I am seriously considering deleting my RSS reader.

@rbreich Don’t just single out Apple. Google did the same including dumping DEI, Black History month observation and did not commit to ethics rules for their AI in the military. In addition to collection egregious amounts of personal data and tracking our every move physical and virtual.

I’ve been using NetNewsWire for quite some time now and love it. It’s my primary means of consuming content. I even follow my favorite YouTube channels via RSS.
