Last day of my old job, in June, I lost a Beats Fit Pro earbud. A gift from one of my kids a few years ago. Asked my coworker to keep an eye out in case she saw it lying around.
Today she sent me this photo. It somehow got out of my pocket near a refuse compactor outside of the building (plausible).
This Dune-colored Beats Fit Pro (part of the Kim K special edition) has been sitting outside in a New England parking lot *all summer* and it still works perfectly.

I can't tell you how restorative it's been to have a normal 9-5 schedule for the first time in two years. No more late night shifts. No more weekends. Work life balance restored.
I have to admit, one of the prouder moments I remember from my Twitter days (pre-Musk) is getting blocked by J.K. Rowling for calling her out on her bigoted anti-trans bullshit.
Amidst the Apple pricing shifts, I'm reminded that I still find my M1 13-inch MacBook Pro and my iPhone 12 perfectly sufficient for my needs.
The only Apple hardware I've splurged on in the past few years was an Apple Watch S10, to replace a very agéd S3 I'd had since new.
I keep an active AppleCare+ account on all three devices because it's paid for itself more than once.
Say what you will about Apple, but the longevity of most of their products is hard to beat.
One thing that unites the Arab and Jewish communities is our love for hummus. And our ability to pronounce it correctly.

I walked into KFC tonight to pick up my mobile order and the manager on duty said, "Hello, Peter" and handed me my bag without another word.

Customer service is my job in my current role so I'm hyper-aware of how this reflects in my own experience. And I have to say, with one exception, every conversation I've ever had with the IRS has been exceptional in this regard. The people who answer the phones there are genuinely spot on when it comes to the human connection you need to get your questions answered and are helpful and friendly and empathetic.

Lowkey obsessed with this show. Two teams of interior decorators kit out two identical rooms using thrift goods, given 2 days and a $2K budget. Some of their rooms are amazing.
They have an advantage in that they're thrifting around Fairfield and Greenwich CT,, whose throwaways are better than most. But still, it's impressive work.

So after due consideration I'm returning the Splat to the store and replacing it with Arctic Fox for my purple beard project. Didn't realize Splat has an absolute shite reputation among the hair coloring crowd and don't want to take any chances with facial hair.
