If you haven't heard, data centers are LOUD.

That's the thing though, they are mostly LOUD in frequencies inaudible to the human ear.

Low frequencies also travel much further have high penetration so putting walls between the data center doesn't help much.

With data centers cropping up all over the US, they sometimes get plopped down near neighborhoods.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Mabel all tuckered out after using scratching post & getting big wiffs of tied off sock filled with catnip.

She was the middle of making biscuits & twitching her front paws.

PO$T American - Dead Pioneers

Celebrate White independence, great
All the White folks get a clean slate
Freedom sold as the newest elixir
American Whites, not an ethnic mixer
A country built on genocide
Wrestle with the facts, don't run and hide
Sets a tone for us, countrywide
White nationalism, American pride
Fuck you and your little Patriot circle
Fuck your capitalist infomercial
You're multi-level marketing, at best
Impеrialist cult...

@jalefkowit I have left behind the enthusiast moniker & my last desktop build was back in 2014. My current computers are bought or donated from helping others build/repair their pc & now just use fanless slim line PC The silence has risen in importance for me, no more 100% fan speed all the time. No more over clocking, better for stability. My electricity bill is much more manageable now. Heh :gphn_cup: Now, getting my hands on replacement parts used & new is much more painful. :smb3_sun:

@davidarnell@mastodon.world I do not doubt that. The pulling water out of the drinking supply bit is also pretty nasty due to the additives they use to cool down mainframes requires intense amounts of energy to scrub & become potable water again.

@cosmin@social.linux.pizza Yeah, I would approach with caution however I did find another post that touches on LLM usage policy. Stallman chimes in as well. May need to at least politely point to the two examples you got for that SMP initial draft plus documentation, either by messaging the big man himself or directly with the devs in question. (Thankfully they do seem to be only utilizing ideas rather than just copying 1:1 the code that was generated? At least that's how I read it...) https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2026-03/msg00425.html

Replying to
@cosmin@social.linux.pizza That's quite disappointing. Considering Stallman calls ChatGPT a bullshit generator I would think utilizing Claude generated code in Hurd would be less than ideal. I would assume any code produced by non-free software would be exactly that. Non-free. Some maintainers seem to erroneously assume it strips copyright.

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange That's nasty. I don't like it. I used to ironically say the internet was a mistake, but some days lately my thoughts have shifted. I feel like my browser at a minimum needs a behavior shift: if any @ is in the address bar, maybe the browser gives a warning & gives you a chance to look over the address before continuing. Uhg, tummy ache activated.

@rysiek@mstdn.social I find the middle click mildly cursed, useful but needs to be respected. I could see how someone who is sick of typing their password 16 times for updating a single app via flatpak remotely via SSH (bug) so a stupid simple work would would be copying your password & paste it a bunch of times. Say you have an old Logitech G9X mouse that doesn't take much pressure while using the wheel to press the middle click. Not that its been a problem for me, but I think bad scenarios exist.

@Lats@aus.social I thought most wind turbines operate around 32 db & some data centers in the US via EPA recommendations target 54 db but can get up to 96 db? That seems like on the wind turbine end it's making the same noise between a whisper up to normal conversation levels. The data center starts at the high end of conversation levels & can end up to almost as loud as a jack hammer. It could be phycosomatic but at 96 db I doubt it's not just going to be only in your head.

@homegrown@social.growyourown.services @Luanti@floss.social I used Luanti to learn how to squeeze all the juice from the Raspberrypi4. If you run the game directly on the Rpi4, youll get fairly poor performance. However running it as a dedicated server on an SSD is better but still not an ideal experience even with a single person logged in remotely. It's once you start over clocking & throwing the Luanti (In my case VoxelLibre) SQLite database onto a tmpfs ramdisk to live there makes it a snappy experience for at least 5 players.

I went line by line + checked logs) Which was text of non computer related things. I didn't understand middle clicking pasting non-copied highlighted text & I would use temp highlighting for reading. Would get miffed it's not pasting the clip board & ditched the middle click for ctr-v. I don't think middle click paste is a problem though & can stay.

I don't know what to say to him running virtually unopposed, kind of whatever at this point. Like I said, you can only do battle with the people you got. You going to go with Collins or Platner? Also, I'm pretty sure running Mills was Shumer's idea, not the democrats as a whole but DSCC.

I want to share that PNG but it's too big & weighs too much. Resize resolution -10% in FOSS Gallery. Toss it to FFShare to convert to webp & compress 1.5 MB PNG down to 70-120 KBs with minimal loss. To reply to calls & messages it's up to 9 between call manager, sms messaging & signal.
