RE: @keepandroidopen@techhub.social
The OpenStreetMap Foundation has signed the open letter to Google to Keep Android Open.
Maps shouldn’t be ruled by the patriarchy—so let’s take them back.
From colonial borders to corporate-controlled GPS, #maps have always been tools of power. #OpenStreerMap is different: open, feminist, and built by the people.
This #IWD2026, #women it's your streets, your stories, your map.
Add what’s missing. Reclaim the map. Join OpenStreetMap.
Mappy Christmas fellow OpenStreetMapers!
OpenStreetMap.org now has a vector tiles layer. 😍

🤣🤣
(We'd like to remind people that if something doesn't exist on OSM, it's a chance for you to map it!)

There's a new map style on OpenStreetMap.org! The Tracestrack Topo map from @tracestrack@en.osm.town.
It's a mix of osm-carto and OpenTopoMap. It has many improvements: more tag support (busway, embankment, cuisine, solar plants, aquaculture, pitch, sea, tree etc.), CJK fonts, etc. There is
also better internationalisation: country specific road shields, peaks
using imperial system in the US, hierarchical place rendering in China, etc.

🍀 Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀
OpenStreetMap in Ireland has been thriving for years, even hosting our 2nd State of the Map in 2008! Since 2019, OSM Ireland has been a proud Local Chapter of the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Beyond everyday mapping, the Irish OSM community has been actively preserving genealogy, history, and heritage through mapping.
