Header image from Blender Artists. (https://blenderartists.org/t/cyberpunk-city/1383792), Profile image from Artstation (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xYoxDr). Not my work, and not AI from what I know. Want a bio? See my pinned post. Got 500 chars here, a little tight to type in. Formerly of Texas, relocated back to Cali last Spring.

I boost BIPOC accounts, women and 2SLGBTQIA voices. Some of them are CW adverse due to genocide, silencing and eradication efforts. If you don't like that, mute my boosts. I try to CW my political rants. And I don't boost spam posts.

I don't respond to any DMs unless they come from my Instance, re: Admin and Mod communiques. They're insecure, if you DM me it will be ignored. All of my posts auto-delete.

@alice In 1972, a grey commando unit was sent to prison by a kangaroo court for a crime they didn't commit. These people promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the cis-het underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive by being awesome people. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The Ace Team.

@dryak @geerlingguy Goes without saying, if you don't need, please save your money. But take care of your things! (Maybe replace your phone case if it already took a bad hit, or get a better bag for your laptop than a dinky little sleeve.)

@mariafarrell@mastodon.social To me, this simplifies things: -- Build for accessibility, not SEO. (Since 98% of SEO rules are Google's demands.) -- Tell people that google.com now just searches Gemini, not the web. Use another search engine.

@lynnesbian@fedi.lynnesbian.space @farshidhakimy@chaos.social The Web Attestation stuff started off with "it's up to sites to determine what security" so the hardline "Android and iOS only" setting may not initially be default. But as people get used to these checks, not hard to guess Google will make new sites use harsher defaults before eventually making the hardnose option the only one in the future in the name of "security."

@Blender@mastodon.social It is truly an era where a tool to help artists is being funded by a tool to steal art and both sides wants artists placated while keeping the money. It is like learning to paint with a specific brush only to learn that brush is sending my artwork to hundreds of other easels, while the brushmaker is telling me to shut up and keep painting. When put into those terms, the simplest answer is for the artists to walk away from all of it. Make new tools yourself, and to hell with everything else.

@mcc It is pretty sad. In 2015, Windows acknowledged a 30 Year Anniversary. After missteps with Windows 8, also announces Windows 10 being a free upgrade for all Windows Vista, 7 and 8 users. The question: right now nobody will celebrate a 50th anniversary of Windows (the 40th was last November, did anyone notice), but with Microsoft renaming everything as CoPilot, will Windows even exist by then?

@CAman @fribbledom That is no longer the case. Affinity went freemium, requiring an online account to use. Version 2.X is no longer sold, since 3.0 is free and has a paid sub for AI features. (Affinity also discontinued 2.X, so no more updates are being made.) Source: https://www.affinity.studio/ https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/v2/

@lproven "With 200 lines of code, turn your data silo into a God that your sociopathic coworkers will swear allegiance to and die for!" I love the comments from LLM acolytes stating the intelligence isn't the code but the data. Turning a golf club around doesn't make it into a pool cue.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social "Is there anything Microsoft is not doing these days?" What the users ask for, apparently. They're spinning that they are removing CoPilot from "unnecessary apps" as a user experience concession, but really, they're decreasing CoPilot's footprint in the RAMpocalypse era and walking back any recommendation of system RAM past the minimum. Nobody involved in AI cares about end user efficiency. Just their datacenter and pocket book.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange Usual Disclaimer: IANAP (Programming hobbyist at best, not a pro or an expert) 1.) Stands to reason that if the prior technique of "fuzzing" (another automated way of discovering bugs) has false positives, so will AI. In fact, I'd be surprised that it isn't a statistically significant number of false positives. 2.) Since Mozilla is all-in for AI and no longer interested in customers (except as cattle), Firefox's days are likely.longer behind it than ahead before it becomes an AI client for them. The brand is all they care about, not the users.
