@siracusa It's weird, right? Not just the "X is bad" part, but also being able to run your own server and self-verify, controlling the message end-to-end, protecting privacy, not beholden to another company, etc. Not even as their only outlet, but at least for crossposting. Every tech company that knows about Mastodon should have their own server.

@Gte@mastodon.social @caseyliss@mastodon.social @BenRiceM@mastodon.social Of course they can’t. It’s just preference and familiarity.

@caseyliss@mastodon.social @Gte@mastodon.social @BenRiceM@mastodon.social Dude, we only use F° for the same bandwagon reasons. It’s what we learned in school. It’s what they use on the weather report. Honestly, it’s the arguing that either one is better than the other that’s crazy. Like arguing US English vs. UK English.

@Gargron @tvaziri “I know 100% that people will argue with me over this” Don’t complain when you get what you want.

@kjhealy Tear to the eye, vomit in the mouth. Tomato, tomato.

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social I feel like you’re supposed to feel that way.

@jsnell @marcoarment It's Apple's Segway.

@BasicAppleGuy It’s only the 21st Anniversary tho.

@tvaziri To me, IMAX is a viewing experience in a science museum on a ginormous dome-shaped screen that requires craning your neck to see some parts of the screen regardless of where you are sitting in the theater. Also, the projector and the film (on a platter, threaded two stories high) are on view behind a glass wall as you enter the theater. Also, it costs more than admission to the museum. None of these facts should be regarded negatively.

@rcarmo@mastodon.social @gruber@mastodon.social That last sentence was like a fingerprint on a freshly polished car.

@Gargron@mastodon.social She really nose her stuff! 😆

@lexfri@hachyderm.io You can ask me if you want. I know stuff.

@dmoren @jeremyburge I recently heard about the Anker Nano from @BasicAppleGuy and got one right away for an upcoming trip. Hearing you two mention it seriously boosts my confidence in that purchase. 👍🏻

@MostlyHarmless Correct!

@cabel@social.panic.com Could’ve sworn Columbo was a Studebaker.

@Moltz@mastodon.social Well, clearly they don’t craft 3-D printed replica Star Trek props at this crafting fair.

@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Nice! I looked really hard too.

@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Where's the trophy?

@tvaziri@mastodon.social And Dashboard Widgets!

@Chancerubbage @cabel It's as reasonable a theory as any other I suppose.

@jaredwhite I believe the correct emoji sequence is: 🫳🏻 🎤

@lexfri Gosh, I wish these updates of yours deep linked to the App Store. 🙂

@tvaziri They all need more Shortround.

@macfixer @Iconfactory That dock needs a trigger warning.

@nikitonsky Further evidence that Apple's core idea of "one size fits all" is a bad strategy. The more they use it, the more it fails. The penny pinching is so confusing/frustrating.

@irrenwirr @nikitonsky I'm a big proponent of "match the keyboard" for menu items. The ⌘A at the end of the menu command is all that's needed to show Command-A.

@brian@beige.party @standardebooks@mastodon.social Thanks for the shout out! These look amazing.

@splorp @haineux @stack @Eggfreckles Very cool!

@gruber@mastodon.social Because they didn’t make sense in the moment.

@stuart@sozial.cyberpunk.gmbh @rmondello@hachyderm.io I also heard people used it to drive in high occupancy lanes in some states. i.e to indicate another occupant.

@marcedwards I'm not seeing it. Might be model specific, I'm on a 13.

@Starfia I’ve done it briefly on here. Don’t know if anyone noticed tho. (because as you say it’s not really a thing here)

@cabel CGI = Clickbait Generating Ignorance

@marcoarment@mastodon.social It's getting out of the way of your content.

@gruber@mastodon.social @dmoren@zeppelin.flights @adamengst@mastodon.social It’s all part of the “experience.”

@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Still miss Dashboard widgets. A friend of mine was working on an app that would run native widgets, but then he fell for the hype, decided nobody cared and gave up. 😔

@viticci@mastodon.macstories.net @macstories@mastodon.macstories.net Click here to download the app!

@domingo@chaos.social @whophd@ioc.exchange @tvaziri@mastodon.social It should be part of their environmental message. Save that screen from the landfill!

@whophd@ioc.exchange @tvaziri@mastodon.social And whatever it’s called that will let me use my M1 iMac as a monitor for an M4 Mini, please.

@tvaziri 🤢

@Eggfreckles@mastodon.mit.edu What does this picture of a bush have to do with it?

@cabel I’ve always wondered how effective spam is in general. I mean, it must be worth if they keep doing it, but most of them seem so low effort it boggles my mind that they work at all.

@chockenberry I got the cheapest Ring doorbell and I'm not paying for any video storage tier. But they can probably still see it tho, huh?

@scalzi Same. If I were in the market for a laptop at all, this is the one I’d get. Silver, the color for introverts.

@WorfEmail@mas.to You won’t see that from me, sir. I use text replacement. “wsom” autocorrects to your name. 🖖🏼

@marcoarment I have the cheap AirPods so I don't even know what I'm looking at, but it certainly sounds frustrating.

@BasicAppleGuy Nice! I’m certain I would have made him a Dashboard Widget back in the day. (man, I miss dashboard)

@marcoarment Well, clearly your degree isn’t in Marketing with a specialty in Obfuscation.

@lexfri Who won?
