RE: https://mastodon.archive.org/@internetarchive/117275710069576084 I was rate limited by the Internet Archive after a rather prolific run of research and link checking for an ongoing project. After contacting them and explaining the situation, my IP address was unflagged within a couple of hours. The folks running the archive are wonderful and are doing their very best to keep this invaluable resource accessible, despite the onslaught of rude scapers and freeloading bots.

Twenty five years ago today, I compiled and published the very first version of the Newton Glossary as a page on my personal website.

At the time, it consisted of a mere 527 terms and 23 sources.

An early version of that page can be found in the Internet Archive.

This image from today’s VCF event illustrates the intersection of computing devices with rainbow Apple logos and computing devices that run on AA batteries.

Replying to
@Luke@typo.social @paperposts@masto.paperposts.me The smarter choice was using a supercapacitor, like Apple did with the #MessagePad 2x00 and #eMate series #Newton devices. It would hold clock related data for ages if you removed the main power or battery. Of course, user and system setting were stored in flash RAM, so you never lost that.

It’s a bit hard to discern over the buzz of the crowd, but I think this sushi place in Seattle is playing a dance remix of Fleetwood Mac.
