It seemed like a good time to wheel this one out, for some reason.
Good night, all.
RE: @srtcd424@mas.to
Hard to imagine a clearer illustration of the Overton Window than this.
Evernote are about to DOUBLE my annual subscription fee. It's time to quit! Probably going to Obsidian or something, but whatever I do, there will be days of hassle.
I'm 61, and I don't know how much time I have left in my life. Stupid crap like this burns precious days I could use for other things.
Wouldn't it be nice if I could send them an invoice, not for money, but for extra lifespan? Maybe they could pay it by sending me a year's supply of healthy salad vegetables or something.
Someone in a YouTube comment just said that something "validates the multidimensional nature of reality."
I really wanted to reply with "you can do that by looking around you and noticing that everything isn't just an infinitely thin line", but I couldn't be bothered.
This remains one of the best TV clips I've ever witnessed.
Stanley Unwin meets Bill & Ben
Yesterday I saw an oystercatcher foraging on someone's lawn, about 5-10 miles from the nearest coastal water.
Is this unusual?
It's really weird that some people seem to have forgotten the phrase "the twentieth century". I've witnessed multiple people on YouTube claiming the 1980s is "the nineteen hundreds". Weird.
Just tried to submit a repeat prescription request. This used to be a simple web form that would always work 24 hours a day and someone would pick it up from an inbox. NOW I get a message that says:
Outside of service hours
We're not currently accepting online administrative queries as it's outside our service hours for these. The next opportunity to use the service is listed below.
BONKERS. This process does NOT need a human present!
A discourteous driver named Bignal
Turned left without giving a signal.
I thought it a crime,
So—bereft of a rhyme—
I decided this was no longer a Limerick and went after the git, ramming him off the road, pulling him out of his car and giving him a damned good thrashing.
Why is it so difficult to buy a washing up brush of modest size? Tesco only seems to have one, and it looks like it was designed for cleaning elephants.
Hey spammers... if you send me literally DOZENS of similar emails every day, don't you think it's just possible that I'll ignore them all?
Have you no nuance, you oxygen sinks?
I know we need to defeat Fascism, but when we've finished, could I just point out that there are people walking around at liberty out there who think it's OK to pitch-correct Freddie Mercury's voice? They should be next.
I just heard about this effect, and I'm confused as hell. I'd love to know how I would come out on the experiment, because as far as I can tell, I don't have ANY spatial organisation of numbers in my head. Is this because I have #aphantasia ?
If I'm thinking of times then I definitely do feel them being in a circle like a clock, but numbers in general? No geometry at all — unless it's actually important, e.g. if I'm thinking about XY co-ordinates.

Tesco have ripped out all but three of the checkouts and replaced them with a self-service area. Damn.
It actually looked to me as though they weren't fully installed yet, which is going to make for an interesting Saturday!
I think it's a shame that this is now the norm. Older people (like my dad before he was housebound) often need interaction with human beings, and this is one source of it that's drying up.
One of my favourite scenes in a sitcom is from The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin:
"Why are lions?"
"Why are lions what, dear?"
"Why are lions lions?"
"Because they come from other lions."
"Why aren't lions ants?"
etc.
Perfect "kid conversation" :D But that first line on its own is particularly great. "Why are lions?" I love it.
On a tangential note, Bentley Rhythm Ace named one of their album tracks "Why Is A Frog Too ..?", which has similar energy.
Looks like there's hair stuck in the gate!
I wish people wouldn't assume that we all read emails on a white background...
The main problem with dystopian science fiction is this: the normal people say "well that looks cool, but we don't want it to happen!", while the psychos say "oh, so THAT'S how it's done. Thanks."
Spirit Feel - Roger Kellaway Quartet, 1967
Spirit Feel by Roger Kellaway (1967)
This is your regular reminder that you can't be IN a dimension. You can only move ALONG it.
Thank you.
I finally worked out that turning my socks inside out makes my toes far more comfortable because there's no seam to annoy them.
It's taken me decades to reach this epiphany. Why didn't anyone TELL me?
Warning... weird voicemail I received:
"If you would like to keep attending your local practitioner, please press one to speak with a member of staff at the NHS to show you how to set up our new mobile app."
Looks like a scam to me! If I'm wrong, please let me know.
I was just listening to this song and paid close attention to the lyric. Very much a song for our time!
Random opinion: I think OK Go could do a great cover version of ELO's "Summer And Lightning". I'd love to see that video...
"I stream on Twitch."
"That's nothing. Andy Serkis twitched in a stream."
Trending on another site now:
"Farage floats Napoleon III's exhumation"
I don't know why, but I'm picturing Farage literally floating above the grave. Maybe they could do a swap? I reckon Mouldering Boney would be a better option.
Yep. This is still the best loop station video on YouTube.
