Rust and mainline Linux on phones ❤️
I have not talked enough about my favorite (relatively new) #systemd feature.
systemctl soft-reboot
this is such a great feature. I work with thin clients that loose their state after rebooting and with a soft-reboot I don't loose any installed packages.
Also great if you use LUKS you won't have to enter your password again with a soft-reboot.
Ich fahre kein Auto und hab keine Probleme mit Ölpreisen. Mal schauen wie lange es dauert bis das beim Rest der Leute ankommt.
Sogar meine Mutter will sich jetzt nen E-Auto holen
This is so me
Because @cccac@chaos.social is a bit far away from me but I still want to do some Linux Mobile hacking, and others may want to do the same, I started the Linux Mobile Hacking Evening in the @c3d2@c3d2.social in Dresden.
The first one will be in 2 weeks on the 17th.

I love wishing for a feature to exist and then finding out it already exists.
"Always store cookies/data for this site"
previously you had to go to settings and manually enter the domain for each site you want to keep the cookies on if your browser deletes cookies on exit.
Damn @plasmamobile@fosstodon.org is really good. Phosh still has more features which make it easier to use and plasma mobile is missing some features but workflow and UX wise plasma-mobile is already better.
Bin heut mitm Zug von Dresden nach Chemnitz gefahren und hab echt viele Solaranlagen gesehen. Das hat mich gefreut. Es ist alles nicht so schlimm wie das Internet sagt
Why does every site need to reinvent log in dialogs for some reason? You do a username/email field and a password field. Both visible at the same time! Not the password field popping up after I've inputted the username. And if you disable pasting from clipboard or interfere with my password manager putting in the data I'm going to fucking strangle you.
@_ Not really. There are great rust crates like wgpu or reqwest which work well because they expose a rusty API. That would be lost going through a C ABI.
My vision of the future would be:
- Rust getting a stable ABI (like crABI)
- Popular rust libraries implementing that ABI so that they can be compiled to a shared object
- Linux distros vetting those rust libraries and packaging them as they do with C and C++ libraries
- Applications being able to depend on those system-installed libraries and maybe statically compiling in smaller dependencies
Since matrix won't let me ask in the KDE Matrix chat I'm going to ask here:
Can we please, please get a feature to turn off the blue progress bar showing how long a notifcation will still be there? It makes notifications so much more distracting than they should be.
@michalfita @_ Cargo would have to do no such thing in my opinion. Please correct me it I'm wrong. Here's how I think this would work:
C libraries are placed in /lib and the same could be done with rust libraries. You'd just declare extern crate and tell cargo something like this
[dependencies]
tokio = "system"
and it would look in LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the shared object.

WOOOO! This is actually a new feature in #git 2.55!
There's now the git history fixup command which does exactly what this alias does.
https://git-scm.com/docs/git-history#Documentation/git-history.txt-fixupcommit
Also look at git history reword and git history split
Bin in letzter Zeit echt Battle Rap Fan geworden.
