@overholt@glammr.us I would tag endless scream in here but it doesn't sufficiently capture my response. Maybe an extra circle of hell might come close.
Not sure I've ever posted a Vogue link before but this is a great examination of the dog days of summer.

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange After being caught by surprise a couple of times, we now always immediately boot the AI notetakers out from meetings. But by and large most people seemed to have stopped using them now. I hope it's dawned on them how rude it is.

@davidallengreen@mastodon.green and then there's that version with the suitors as KKK white supremacists who get run out of town.

@ifixcoinops@retro.social got to say that 'top me' has quite different connotations in my part of normal island.
The snowgoose gully takes its summer form. Named for the shape, not because they ever land there!
On maps it's shown as leac an t-sneachda, the snow slab.

My neighbour's boat: that can now only dream about rolling sea of the Minch and the deep waters of the Sound of Eigg.
Tory party must be really getting short of cash. They're reusing old election flyers from 2016.

You can cut curves in a tile by hand with a tile saw blade (tungsten carbide string blade fitted to a hacksaw). If you can find a similar tile, make a stencil of your area to fill and cut that shape, leaving space for grouting etc.
I've cut curved shapes like that when fitting tiles around shower fittings etc. It's a pain of a job but will be neater than a mosaic of broken tile!
Edit - mask up when cutting by hand since you'll be making a bit of dust...

@uc@mastodon.scot Could well be - I'm not 100% sure about the Guardian since I have an account and subscription so don't see the pop up any more!

@signalapp@mastodon.world I think many of your points have merit, but what actually is your counter proposal to prevent online child criminal / sexual exploitation?
I work in field where CSE is an issue and am keen to know how you'd address it.
Replying to
@plock@mas.to exactly. I agree with your point. I don't want Signal to lose this argument either as they're right about creeping surveillance. But if they think they can successfully fight it on the govt's turf - "spend more money on education! More social workers!" - they are going to lose.
Also: many of the kids most at risk really detest youth social services. Signal seem to be saying, govt. shouldn't regulate us, it should regulate vulnerable kids instead. It's not a winning argument imho.

@dirkmjk@mastodon.nl ah no need to apologise, they were identical paint schemes. Just me being snobbish about my fancy bike!

@plock@mas.to the victims here are children, criminally exploited.
Tech companies will lose this political battle unless they come up with workable solutions.
Replying to
@scotlit@mastodon.scot ah, sorry, I meant just in interpretation. My reading of it is a bit more prosaic than theirs. I imagine the poor suffering boy is not feeling much of the "communal in the arts"...
Replying to
@uc@mastodon.scot different i think? Have a look at Aftenposten.no and try to "tilpass cookies" (customise) - you're forced to pay if you want to reject certain options, otherwise you can't access the article at all.
Replying to
@plock@mas.to @signalapp@mastodon.world absolutely. The statement suggests the alternative solutions the government should consider are more money for education, more money for social services and increased regulation of AI. But none of these directly address CSE.
It basically says, "we appreciate you're robbing us because your kids are starving, but have you considered planting more crops instead?".
