I came across this awesome website with (mostly) free to use silhouette images of different organisms - great for scientific publications and presentations! I really appreciate people making/uploading these images for others to use - will probably be using these on graphs in the future. The bee species available are a bit lacking, though.

I'm participating in Blaugust 2026 this year - a month of blogging in august! I've never kept up with a blog before and would like to try it. I'll be focusing on biology, science, and animal writing, with maybe some book reviews and other additional things. See my first post below for details about blaugust and what my plans are. https://luckyinstar.neocities.org/blog/2026_07_21 #blaugust #blaugust2026 #blogging #neocities

starting my 'random bee' series of blog posts, where I pick a genus at random from a book and do a write up on it. Today's bee: Caupolicana, a rare cellophane bee! https://luckyinstar.neocities.org/blog/beegenera1 #blaugust #blogging #blogs #neocities #insects #bees

Do fellow US scientists have advice on what I'm supposed to do here. Am I just not going to have a job after spending years getting a PhD, do I move to another country, what options are we actually considering here.

How do I just not spend the next year(s) in despair.

@em_and_future_cats@mastodon.social good question! that one is Mirasaura grauvogeli, a triassic reptile. it has a tall crest on its back. it was very recently discovered, this year I think. https://www.sci.news/paleontology/mirasaura-grauvogeli-14091.html
