Another attempt at slice of life thoughts. Feedback, constructive and/or positive greatly appreciated. Last post for Blaugust; it was great to have a reason to make time to think, write, and post. Thanks organizers! As I sat on the dark beach listening to the sounds of the crashing waves and the very faint roar of thunder from the distant flashes of lightning, I wondered if will I think of this serene moment again? How many times will I remember this memory? Or will All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain continues at: https://shom.dev/posts/20260829_like-tears-in-the-rain/ #Blaugust #SliceOfLife

x is for XML parsing I may have mentioned BeautifulSoup a few times in the past but I'm not gonna let a full month of Python posts go by without hyping it once more. https://hamatti.org/posts/x-is-for-xml-parsing-python-a-to-z/ #Python #Blaugust #Blaugust2026

Parsing information from XML and HTML documents is a nice experience with BeautifulSoup.

New day, new blog posts. I talk about the waiting game in #EverQuestLegends https://pixelnomad.ca/2026/08/11/a-waiting-game/ Over on the #blaugust side of things, I explore some acrylic pours I did. https://quailcreations.ca/?p=519

Validate your incoming JSON data with Pydantic to make sure it behaves. As a bonus, you can modify the data at the same time to parse it into a format that's most useful to your program. https://hamatti.org/posts/j-is-for-json-validation-python-a-to-z/ #Python #Blaugust #Blaugust2026

Don’t let rogue data mess up your program or database — validate it at the door with Pydantic. I wrote a quick tutorial to get you started with the basic building blocks fo Pydantic’s data validation schema.

I just wrapped the 40th session of my 1-Star Dungeon Pathfinder 2e campaign. In this session, the party learned about sword breeding. https://godless-internets.org/2026/08/08/singing-sword-eggs #Blaugust #Blaugust2026

g is for get_or_create Django's get_or_create is great. It lets you search for something in the database and craete it if it didn't exist. It's such a great tool for things like data entry and makes the code nice and easy to read and follow. https://hamatti.org/posts/g-is-for-get-or-create-python-a-to-z/ #Python #Django #Blaugust #Blaugust2026

Django’s ORM has a neat shorthand for when you’re creating new objects in the database but some might already exist and you want to reuse them rather than always create new ones. QuerySet’s get_or_create does all that on a single line.

Bandcamp Friday - Violinbwoy meets Laboratorium Pieśni

Bandcamp Friday - 7th August 2026. I only just remembered to to get this one in the nick of time with a little over a hour to go on. This is Violinbwoy’s take on a Belarusian traditional song. A beautiful interpretation by Laboratorium Pieśni remixed for sound system play by Violinbwoy in his laboratory. A tune gathering the ancient spirits - from that time to this time… play it loud and feel the vibrations!
