i found out that, in addition to even more #ndis cuts (which is a can of worms i'm keeping sealed for now), the federal government wants to get rid of a rebate for people aged 65+ who pay for private health insurance. you know, that thing a lot of us need to pay for to get the medical care we actually need because there's plenty of shit medicare won't cover?

i don't fucking understand why the federal government doesn't tax multi-millionaires and higher more. THEY actually have the money the government wants!!!!!!

@JoscelynTransient@chaosfem.tw agreed. those fucks either don't realise or want to accept that every trans person is more cyberpunk than they ever will be. they're also - for lack of a better term - the evil cyberpunks in fiction fight against, but obviously real. similarly to your situation, the reason my gender doctor has to give for me to get testosterone for gender transitioning purposes is that i have a deficiency of it. which isn't exactly lying lolllllllllll

@0xabad1dea @theartlav out of curiousity, i tried going on the official website, and i can't access it normally here in australia. i can if i use a vpn set to hong kong. my guess is it's been done because we've got fairly close political ties to the usa, so i guess i shouldn't be too surprised. that said, we're also somewhat close to china (i'd say we're currently at arm's length and side eyeing each other). but also we're also geographically closer to china and we have way more chinese immigrants per 1,000 people than usa-ian ones????? i don't know. it's just goofy.

D: i've got a 2022 ipad air and installing ipados 18 definitely made it work worse, even though it has a m1 chip. :| as a result, i refuse to update it to ipados 26. plus, liquid glass is an accessibility nightmare...

"the betoota advocate" is fake news (usually comedic but (mostly*) left wing) and the "nt** times" is ""real"" news (usually comedic but right wing). *they've done at least 1 article that i know of that's very bigotted **northern territory. 1 of the 8 major states/territories that make up australia the country

@0xabad1dea @theartlav that's probably it. i think they've now blocked my phone somehow because i can't even access it via a hong kong vpn....... which gets weirder because there's an english language subsite (which is just /EN/ ? = xx, where x = some random number, not even a subdomain) AND i'm using a motorola phone.

@decryption@aus.social @tootbrute@fedi.arkadi.one my thinking is that, for the next ?? years, most uni students will have had some part of their education impacted by covid and covid lockdowns, especially if they lived in melbourne at the time. as we know, these events coincided with the rise of modern ai.

so yeah, i don't blame them for sipping the kool-aid either, as much as i wish it wasn't the case.

it sure beats what i used to do for uni essays: gather all my sources, write a vague outline, then hammer out the essay over the course of a day or so and finish it a few hours before it was due. it wasn't ideal, especially since i'd have more caffiene than blood in my bloodstream......

(to anyone reading who's still in uni or thinking of going: do not do this with your assignments. this method genuinely nearly killed me)
