"first science publisher sues over scraped research papers"
#Meta vs. #Elsevier - you really don't know who to root for less.
"The Research Activity Identifier (RAiD) is a persistent identifier (PID) and global registry dedicated to research projects [...]governed by ISO standard 23527:2022"
-> https://www.iso.org/standard/75931.html
-> CHF 67,-
I still cannot see how this "pay for standards" model will ever help science or society. This should be tax funded, the results should be free and open, period.
I see the future of paper mills, and its name is Prism.
This will greatly accelerate the slopification of science.

While grammar-checking an English text with #Deepl's Write tool, i noticed that it hallucinates new sentences at the end of a paragraph with style set to "academic":
"The following essay will provide a comprehensive overview of the relevant literature on the subject."
Style "business" adds: "Please find below the details of the meeting." and for casual "So, here's the deal: you can use this for business and personal use."
Of course, this already appears in scholarly articles.

I'm really looking forward to discuss the first draft of our recommendations to tackle burdens and barriers for authors in #OpenAccess publishing in our virtual workshop tomorrow:
https://projects.tib.eu/idaho/en/abschlussworkshop/
Free registration: https://tib-eu.webex.com/weblink/register/re6ed366fa3fe9b19d7328bccc391b23d
Insights in the topic of #EpistemicInjustice will be provided, then a summary of the most relevant results form our project with regard to the development of the recommendations. And then the "work" part of the workshop starts. :)
Please share!

Is there a way to query for all EU funded projects of one or more instititions in and get dates, titles etc, but very importantly all participanting organisations of the project, either in #CORDIS or @OpenAIREGraph@mastodon.social? I tried, but I failed. Do I need multiple queries to achieve it?
I had no luck with API v2, too. That should not be complicated, right?

The yearly report of the @tibhannover@openbiblio.social has been published, and I'm very happy that the #BarcelonaDeclaration on #OpenResearchInformation (ORI) has such a prominent place in it: https://www.tib-report.eu/en/2024#mehropenness
A bit below you can find a section on 15 years of @datacite@openbiblio.social , which was co-funded by TIB, and is a key actor in ORI, too: https://www.tib-report.eu/en/2024#jahredatacite
I'm looking forward to 2025, which will bring a lot more activities in this field.
Do you face barriers when you want to publish your research in #OpenAccess? We try to identify barriers and hurdles, that affect YOU.
https://tib.eu/umfragen/index.php/895232?lang=en
The survey does not take long, and you help to make the research discourse more inclusive.
Please spread the survey, especially to researchers from #industry, #CitizenScience, #displaced or #refugee scholars etc.!
Thanks!
Hallo @bmbf_bund@social.bund.de, was ist die offizielle engl. Übersetzung?
"Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space" wie im Footer der Webseite https://www.bmbf.de/EN/Home/home_node.html oder "Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Aeronautics"
wie in der Webseite
https://www.bundesregierung.de/breg-en/federal-government/ministries/federal-ministry-of-education ?
After a comprehensive report from @irynakuchma@mstdn.social on news from the #OpenAccess sector including some useful information on how to choose a good journal, @KaliuzhnaN@mastodon.social presented on
"Open Access to research publications in #Ukraine", focusing around the findings in our paper in @QSS_ISSI@scicomm.xyz, https://doi.org/10.1162/qss_a_00324.
- Strengthen Trust, QUality and preservation signals: Make them visible and disvoverable, clear licensing etc.
- Streamline and simplify submission workflows: Mobile friendly, offline submission kits, low-bandwidth options, provide author friendly options
Almost 250 people in the kickoff session of the #barcelonadeclaration
We just started, and you can still join us at https://universiteitleiden.zoom.us/meeting/register/u50sdO-hqTosGd3zNIEc9JYOwH4sY9K_uWHF#/registration.
Now the final suggestion for five recommendations:
- Transparency and flexibility of APCs (preferably #DiamondOA of course)
- Recognition of diverse affiliations (such as allow "independent researcher" as an option, educate editors on biases)
- Offer multilingual author support, Enhance multilingual and author support author systems
📢 The VIVO Ontology Interest Group wants your input!
