Once a year, maybe, weather conditions are just right to produce hoar frost and rime. When the sun comes out, the world turns magical for a few brief hours.

The Alberta Tar Sand crude is so heavy that it requires specialized refineries. Europe might not have that capacity. Natural gas is probably a different story.

And if you listen to Danielle 'Not Withstanding' Smith recently, she included wind and solar as examples where Alberta is an energy 'powerhouse'.
A reminder that she will say anything to anybody in order to get the reaction she wants.

I may not be yellow and blue, or green and red, but man, am I ever brown. My ancestors have spent myriads of years perfecting this brown.
That is why I am proud to be called a....

I agree he was being clear and did not use too many big words, but you can see it in the faces of the audience. At 5:24 for example, the congressman is completely lost.
I've given lectures to university students and that glazed expression is someone no longer listening to the words.
Also, I guess I don't give much credit to the US education system to have provided the congress members with the amount of science background knowledge that even you had at age 14.

Listening to this now, I am amazed at how bad a communicator he was. Maybe it's the decades between then and now, but I feel he lost his audience very quickly. The language was right for an academic audience, but that's not what he had.

If the ABNDP were smart, they'd start opposing these data centers and start representing some rural voters for a change.

Nice!
This happened in Alberta, Canada.
We had three days of freezing fog (-15C), which is unusual for a dry climate such as this. Then the sun came out! 😎

Maybe, but I have this impression that 80% of the software I use wouldn't run without some sort of work-around, emulator, VMware , use of a needlessly command-line knock-off, or a degree in computer engineering to mesh somebody's niche kernel with some obscure driver requirements which inevitably breaks my networks ability to talk to itself.
Linux has a usability problem, whether real or imagined, I'm not sure.

No doubt, but the instructions for installing Steam illustrates my issue with usability.
"Use SteamOS: If you're using Arch Linux, you can install Steam from the official repositories or AUR. You will need to enable the multilib repository and install the steam package. Check your video drivers: Ensure your 32-bit OpenGL and Vulkan drivers are correctly installed, as this is a common point of failure for many users. "
Why would I want a new OS?
WTH is a multilib repository anyway?

Have you read the book Command and Control?
It's a history of nuclear war heads in the US and how the military got to control them. Interwoven are stories of accidents involving nuclear bombs including a fire an explosion in a Titan missile silo.
I think you might enjoy the book after your tour.

Are the Chinooks masked somehow? I can see a stonge wind signature from the WSW but I would have thought they would be warmer.

The bigger story that the UCP will not acknowledge is that 272,000 Albertans signed their unwillingness to have the province open coal mines in the Eastern Rockies.
This is still a significant political force.

The UCP have broken their oaths.
They have acted dishonorably.
They are traitors.
Therefore, they no longer have my respect as a legitimate government, and I will treat them and this government accordingly.
