Decades ago a friend gave me a tape that must have been made from a vinyl album because there was a skip in one of the songs. 40 years later I have a digital copy I bought myself and I still expect the skip every time I listen to it.

When my oldest moved out I made sure they had checks for their account. It worked out well because the landlord only accepted checks and their roommates had no bank account. My 18 year old was the rent payer for an apartment of grad students 😂

I agree with you on China. I expect the next however long to be a time of middle powers and alliances and I'm honestly looking forward to it, although I understand we'll have a rocky go to get things stable and it might not work out.

I've been excited to hear so much lately. I'm in Texas and when our legislature tried to hamstring renewables recently they were overwhelmed with ranchers who rely on payments from wind and solar installations on their land. The way our grid is run has encouraged a lot of solar, wind, and battery build out and even though Republicans try to blame everything bad on renewables, the people investing know better. And they're winning! Too quietly still, but surely.

I've been seeing this argument everywhere anyone is talking about energy. The only people I see acting like it's only a pet issue for virtual signalling are right wingers in the pocket of the oil industry.
The problem may be that's where everyone is getting their framing of clean energy advocates. And they're not going to drop their propaganda.

In every instance of people who "don't see color" that I have ever known of they also, conveniently, couldn't see racist policies and actions.
People who actually try to treat everyone the same say they try to treat everyone the same. People who say they *do* treat everyone the same are always fooling themselves. Or lying.

As someone who took 16 years to research and write a new book, Migration and the Origins of American Citizenship , a policy and legal history, I paid keen attention to the oral arguments (April 1) in T rump v Barbara and read the entire 194 page opinion issued yesterday, June 30 .
I enjoyed the movie last night. It wasn't a very entertaining film but I liked the slowness of it. It reminded me of other movies from the same period. I liked some of the characters and appreciated the attempts to create personalities. I'm very uncomfortable with the ending and I like that, too. It's given me a lot to think about.
