@dropbear@aus.social @Nickiquote@mstdn.social trash bandit!

@bagder@mastodon.social I don't doubt the tools are better now, I just doubt they will be worth the cost when it comes due

@troed@swecyb.com @bagder@mastodon.social the AI industry still has a trillion dollar loan to pay back and they don't have that money. Either we pay it plus interest, or the cheques start to bounce.

@greenpeace@mastodon.social misleading picture. It's not a climate crisis. We left the crisis behind a while ago. It's now a climate catastrophe.

@troed@swecyb.com @bagder@mastodon.social aye, and I have the sneaking suspicion that the open weights will suddenly be frozen in time when that happens.

@pikesley @bruces violence isn't the answer, it's *reads history Oh *reads more history Oh no

@fj oopsy daisy, sorry, your FOIA request couldn't be processed because we used self-deleting messages, our bad teehee 🤭

@domdel@mastodon.social @kushal@toots.dgplug.org I believe LibreWolf blocks certain things by default for privacy reasons, like 3D acceleration and canvas, so it might be worth trying with those disabled first

@riley @MissConstrue I am not a bot. Please don't look at my name.

@pluszysta It's a very British thing to take criticism in stride, something Tate could never understand

@nieuemma if I had to do 5 full-time employees' worth of work just to start doing my hobby, I'd quit

@JetlagJen @fj Can you say, "Destroyed Evidence"? "Destroyed Evidence"! Oh no!

@mountdiscovery@twit.social borb

@jk OK, so, that's not just me, then. I've always said I don't want to be one of those developers that's stuck on a single forever-project. I want to solve a problem, and LEAVE IT SOLVED. If I need more to do, solve more problems.

@froge @kkarhan @fj Also XMPP is just bad, not only from a security standpoint (which I trust security experts on, not being one myself) but also as a protocol designed... before smartphones, basically. Being totally married to being connection- instead of session-oriented is basically why Matrix exists, at all.

@justjanne @akareilly reminder, I'm still blocked. I can't see their posts, nor them mine. Which means they're checking this thread while logged out to see what I, specifically, have to say. I don't know whether to laugh or feel flattered.

@akareilly this earned me a block, lmao

@pheonix Nothing from Microsoft, no.

@viktor Applied, wish me luck!

@NoFood4u@wetdry.world most hinged internet users:

@fell@ma.fellr.net I'm endlessly frustrated when a Gnome app doesn't let me use my KDE system titlebars. I just want my keep-above and pin buttons.

@TheEjj@mastodon.social @charlotteclymer@mastodon.social 👏

@bagder@mastodon.social on the one hand, what an honor it must be to make something so many find so useful. On the other, maintenance sounds like a right nightmare!

@RickiTarr@beige.party not with that attitude

@zackwhittaker@mastodon.social because they're full of shit

@justjanne when someone is offended by the plain, simple truth, I think that honesty was never the intent

@prehnra@mastodon.social @siracusa@mastodon.social a shell language taken too far

@troed@swecyb.com @bagder@mastodon.social it's only not an issue if your plan is no progress.

@fell@ma.fellr.net on the taskbar? Sure, I get that I can still do it, but it's a PITA

@troed@swecyb.com @bagder@mastodon.social we were just looking at a chart about how useful AI has become over time, you think all that came from just pointing open weights at an API?

@justjanne @akareilly ohh, really upset them with this one, didn't I? Shit, I posted it because I found it... Funny.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social they can only give away free hardware for so long

@stevegis_ssg@mas.to @RickiTarr@beige.party maybe we're just not hating ourselves enough

@troed@swecyb.com @bagder@mastodon.social alright, I'll remain conservative for now, if it's all the same to you.
