Yeah, so this summer broke my dog. A week of intermittant fireworks, followed by a week of intermittant thunderstorms, and now every evening she looks up at the sky through the windows as if in terror. And leans against us a bunch. It's pretty sad.

Slow afternoon watching tennis. Cleo is curled up against me, burying her head.

@dallo@pouet.chapril.org you mean fear of death might be a disincentive to cycling? imagine!! :)

@failedLyndonLaRouchite@mas.to @Brad_Rosenheim@climatejustice.social The original Obamacare efforts included reining in the way that hospitals bill (per procedure or test) to insert some sanity, as well as allowing for lower set drug prices. There is a *lot* of insurer profit that is *not* salaries.

@Arapalla @stumblewyk (not saying I'd hate it now, but only that I have an image of myself laughing my fool head off, and I haven't seen it since. see also: the Pink Panther movies...)

@MattiPan Alt text: Photo from gorund level of a small tan and white dog, furry-coated, and perhaps a bit of an elder gentleman. He is lying down, and hes has been draped in a royal cape, dark with gold brocade and white fur at the neck, clasped under his chin with a jewel. He also sports a gold crown with filagree and a matching jewel.

@tallandtrue@aus.social I've found this attributed to Abraham Lincoln: "I' think not much of a man's religion whose dog or cat is not the better for it."

@sundogplanets this one only makes sense to me if they think they're selling the output to future space assembly factories. who knows what scifi they've been reading and want to get out ahead of!

@stumblewyk@jawns.club it always felt like Fat White Boys to me, but at least the speed-up of the game has made it reasonably watchable.
I guess that's how. 🤣

@amanda@jawns.club so yes, the end result will be some combination of fewer viable podcasts and fewer options for listeners.

@davidnjoku@mastodon.world I mean, we've already warped them with "quack" and "moo" and so forth. Listen to the world around you, kids, don't rely on us!!

@amanda@jawns.club @matdevdug@c.im I can't speak for matdev, but I listen to dozens of podcasts. some are daily, some are weekly, some are occasional. to turn your (Amanda's) question around, how integral to your life does a podcast have to be to require your money? because I love most of my top podcasts, but i too cannot imagine giving every one of them $5/mo forever...

3 Good things:
1) First day when I've left windows open -- chilly and beautiful outside, the air wonderful drifting in.
2) Afternoon Zoom call with Teen, helping her book trip home for Thanksgiving. Glad we'll see her, deeply thankful that she has made it this far.
3) This post, which reminded me of the simple joy of collecting rocks, nuts, and other small treasures as you wander through the world: https://turtleisland.social/@dillyd/117400804188088487
