Packing my DIY encryption prototypes for my workshop at @inselchaos@chaos.social. It's a fun tech-related topic that you can explore with low-tech materials. #inselchaos26 #InselChaos #inselchaos2026 #stemeducation #encryption #papercraft #FediLZ #stem #diy #diy_electronics

@VVoidCamp@chaos.social was really nice with lots of fun people around! Somehow, all my photos are light-up mushrooms from different angles 😅 — apparently, I didn’t take any other pictures. Huge thanks to everyone who worked hard to organize this amazing event.

I realized that Google sends most traffic to my 'basics' page, which used to be the worst place to start exploring my site 😅, so I decided to make it awesome: https://www.voltpaperscissors.com/basics

Replying to
@buherator@infosec.place @inselchaos@chaos.social yes it is the pringles enigma you can find online. It is tedious to follow the tracks and keep track of the rotations but it explains very well how the enigma worked.

I made a canard using my 3D pen on tissue paper technique. Canards have a small foreplane instead of a tailplane. The main wing is at the far back with a vertical stabilizer at the end. The foreplane is great for trimming the flight. It is a bit easier to trim since the center of mass is between the two wings. A regular wing configuration needs nose weight for a propper flight.
But I am still experimenting and learning!

Replying to
@buherator@infosec.place @inselchaos@chaos.social yes, the pringles enigma requires you to follow the tracks yourself instead of using electricity. The pringles engima is not my "invention". I will use the "pocket enrypt" for my workshops. The other stuff is "just" to introduce the general topic.

@brunogirin@mastodon.me.uk if one of the front wheels falls off the other front wheel moves up because both are on a rocker mechanism. That engages the perpendicular wheel that rotates the robot. Also: only one of the back wheels is "powered". Rotation direction of both wheels is set up in a way that if both "powered" wheels are engaged the robot turns on the spot

Happy Easter! I had a fun workshop painting eggs using my spinart robot. It worked pretty smooth. Using plastic eggs for training, then real eggs was a good idea. And after easter this machine can paint paper discs.
More about this here: https://www.voltpaperscissors.com/spinartrobot
Workshop was at MBP Schöneberg (Berlin library)

Playing with my Solar Powered Spin Art Robot for kids :-) more colors are more fun but I need speed controling for the two motors to change the pattern. Currently the motors are running at full speed. 😎

These paper sculptures are awesome. Would be cool to add fancy back lighting or even animated LEDs to that mix.

@iris@neuromatch.social great idea to use a bookmark as on/off. The slide switch is a bit tricky. I want to add instructions for a reed switch mechanism. That would probably be more reliable.

@iris hey! Thanks for sharing your experience. It aligns pretty much with my experiences. Copper tape does not make good connections. Especially the standard copper tape with non-conductive adhesive. Also I can not find translucent paper that is nice to fold. Its always too sturdy and/or breaks. Or to flimsy to print on. Anyway! Your book lamp turned out well and I really like the recycled book cover!

@hollisb@fosstodon.org I am always confused how to call such paper in english. It is a very thin sort of paper without coating. Tissue paper might be the right one yes. But I did do the same procedure with a 3d pen and normal printing paper and it works almost as good. It is more important to trim it right: Hold your fingers at about one thirds of the wingarea (messured front to back) thats where the center of gravity should be. if it tips over to the back add some weight to the nose.
