@soller@floss.social I would check it out on LinkedIn but alas ever time i go there i get bombarded with AI bots in my DM's as well as offers for fake jobs who's descriptions are made by AI to harvest CV's for datamining

@vwbusguy@mastodon.online Well time to switch back to being a Roman Catholic after being an Adeptus Mechanicus. Both now dislike Abominable Intelegence. see https://warhammer40k.fandom.com/wiki/Silica_Animus

@sugar@snug.moe @soller@floss.social That wasnt the point of my post. My point was the frustration of having to switch every few years because BitBucket, Sourceforge, Github, Gitlabs or other does something stupid. It is tiring.

@sugar@snug.moe @soller@floss.social Oh but they can. Even FOSS communities have made bad chocies from making a terms of service require only people over 16 can even thouch a project, to dropping X86_64 V2 and older support, and whatever other controversial thing has people riled up. Just because there isnt a profit motivation doesnt mean they cant do something that makes people upset.

@pedro_mateus@mas.to Sadly all the new cassette mechanisms are junk so you are better off finding an older one and trying to repair it. Not sure about CD players with MP3. I know for Record players there are lots of options but the Audio Technics LP120/140 is a classic that is still being made 40 years later.

@exkclamation @chockenberry some child safty caps can be pulled up to lock out the child proofing as well. Sadly if i recall that isnt an option on syrup based medicine, but i think i can grasp why.

Dont know how but doing an update to a Leap 15.6 machine last night broke the graphics drivers. "Well you should not buy an Nvidia card." i hear from someone in the back. Nope.. this time it was intel and the video accelerated hardware.

Now to decide if i can just change the repos to Leap 16 and dup or if i will have to migrate to tumbleweed/slowroll.

@geerlingguy@mastodon.social Do your Xserves have a fiberchannel card/port on them? I just dug around the dark depths of my stash of computer stuff and found my Apple SFP 4G Fiberchannel cable. Curious if that is something you'd be interested in tinkering with.. for content and science!

Finnaly got some updated firmware installed on my new to me Powerconnect6224. It was a pain. I found a usb serial device that could not communicate back to the switch which was 3 days of frustration.

Also sending 9.6MB over a 9600 baud connection using Xmodem was painful.

All this work and the darn thing is going to be switched to unmanaged mode anyways xD

Now to get some Fiber gear. Got an 88ft run to do.

@soller@floss.social sigh. First Sourceforge to Github, then Github to Gitlab. Now Gitlab to Codeberg. I am tired of this ****, and i am sure you are too. Least we are using Git verses mercurial across all these so there is some silver lining. Oh and SVN too, i dont remember any of the SVN stuff so i avoid sourceforge as much as i can get away with. Goodluck with the Migration.

@pixelate@tweesecake.social if my vision where to become impaired i would likely use the distro made by Klaus Knopper for his wife. Beyond that Orca has done a great job and monitors in the larger sizes have dropped in price. Better OCR to speech would be handy. Though i have heard there are some projects using large language modles that help. Whisper has replaced Dragon Natualy Speaking for me when it comes to Speech to Text. Google Doc's speech to text has been decent enough too.
