The CFP for #FOSSY2026 was opened today, and we have a #CampKDE track! Somehow or another I ended up getting roped into help coordinate the track, so if you're doing things in the #KDE ecosystem, consider attending or submitting a talk??

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I mean, if your workflow works for you, do it that way. There's not really a "right way"
I use brew on Kalpa (even though I don't ship it in the default install) because it's just handy. That being said, I hestitate to call myself much of a coder, and maybe there's better reasons for somebody that is to be using the recommended upstream installation methods?
I mean, what do I know, I use the Steam Flatpak, which is apparently the worst thing ever.

kinda interested in researches about dark mode vs light mode
@uncomfyhalomacro@fosstodon.org I just let #Plasma switch me from light to dark, along with sunrise and sunset. I like it.

With some hesitation, but in order to help make sure that there's no accusations of "Nobody told Me" if/when things get decided on, I present for consideration a new RFC for #openSUSE
We've had a fair bit of struggle internally in the project over the years, given the way things were setup after openSUSE became the community adjunct to SUSE Linux Enterprise
So we're talking about governance. Please weigh in, if you have ideas or comments.

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I'll be honest, It never occured to me to wonder. And if the feedback starts showing up, I certainly wouldn't care enough to go figuring out a way to disable it.
Some people will just get pissed off about anything apparently.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca @arichtman@eigenmagic.net I’ll be honest, most of my career was in blue collar work, and I can pretty well say that I hate meetings, I’ve been in ones that were well run, and still came away with nothing useful. But I can recognize that they’re productive endeavors for some folks, when done well

@vwbusguy@mastodon.online Alaska gets a solid Meh, especially since the Hawaiian aquisition, and their "alliance" is pretty weak for most of the places I want to fly.
I pretty typically stick with Delta anymore.

@uncomfyhalomacro@fosstodon.org I mean, you're not wrong, but whether it was generated by an LLM, or just power-coded in a drunken haze, if you're submitting that code to a larger project, it's *your* circus, and your monkey.
That's the biggest problem with most "vibe coded" submissions, the people trying to submit them have *zero* clue how they work.

@ianthetechie@fosstodon.org "lack of moderation" is a pretty broad brush to paint with, as it's entirely dependent on the homeserver in question.
"Lack of moderation *tools* by default" that's a much different statement/question, and as a Moderator on a couple of Matrix homeservers, yeah, the tooling isn't great.
If you're running your own homeserver, for personal DM's and bridging, you're probably going to be fine.

@jorge@hachyderm.io @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family oh, I barely use the distro packages for much, especially not for setting up dev environments and whatnot

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I don't think you're really missing anything, if you're not running into pain points that make you say "Maybe I should try brew, because this sucks!!!"
It's a great tool, but to some extent, I'm of the mind that using what works for you is the best option.

@vwbusguy@mastodon.online depends on the coffee, honestly, I've got a chemex I use most days, I don't consider it to be particularly more work than a French Press, just different.
My bigger issue with my French Press, is that I drink a lot of coffee, and my French Press just doesn't make *enough* of it at a time =P

@Canageek@wandering.shop I mean, if you're going to go to the trouble of packaging it as an rpm, why not contribute it to Factory, so it's there the next time you want it?
That's how things get into distribution repositories.

@ben@werd.social I get most of my coffee from Hank and John. It's a little on the expensive side, but so far, they've not given me any reason to doubt that they're doing what they say with the money I give them, and I get pretty good coffee.
