@dansup@mastodon.social I do miss MSN Messenger and Windows Media Player but I was a much higher fan of Windows 2000 than XP. I ran Windows NT4 for years. 2000 even had a POSIX subsystem.

I'm still salty about crucial/micron. I've been a customer of theirs for *decades*. I had a Micron laptop my freshman year of college (that ran Windows NT4). They were consistently the reasonably priced, reliable one in a market full of various quirks and shenanigans from vendors with far more name recognition.

Is there a preferably FOSS (commercial OK) way to convert a scan of graph paper into a sprite? My son has been drawing pixel art ideas for video games by hand and I'm looking for a way to digitize them to use with Godot, etc, down the road.

If it's MLOps using local resources already in your data center to power off nodes when demand is low, etc., that seems useful.
If it's just adding a chatbot to generate a poster for marketing on earth day then yeah, that feels very much like it's missing the point.

@peachfiend I often see the push for ten commandments more as a token for Christian nationalism. I don't see the same people advocating for actually teaching them (in fact, many don't seem to see much problem with their own lying, adultery, or greed). As a Christian, I think we'd be much better spending our efforts living into them than building monuments about them as weapons in a culture war.
I only feed my sourdough starter once per week when I'm making dough. The rest of the time, it sits in the back of the fridge. I haven't done daily discards since establishing my starter.
If #canvas doesn't recover soon, they'll almost have worse uptime than GitHub.

I can at least appreciate that people are trying to find a way to be cordial in an ecosystem that its members care deeply about, but it certainly doesn't seem executed in a fair and trust inspiring way. Having people with corporate affiliations in a non-profit open source foundation isn't a novel thing.

The #studentloans situation under Biden was a near impenetrable wall. The Trump administration has removed the "near".
Imagine finding out that dragons did exist and still do exist and then not telling anyone about it so that they would continue to exist, but getting to go on living with the sense of awe about that.

The other thing I did was shape it right out of the fridge this time where I used to let it sit for a while. It is a little easier to shape and cut with the razor this way why I otherwise don't notice any obvious downsides.

@bookwar@floss.social @tragivictoria@mastodon.catgirl.cloud I strongly agree. Community Linux distributions are inherently made up of "random people" (in this case a Microsoft postgres contributor). That's a feature to be desired and not just a happy coincidence. The fact that the fix landed so quickly in other distros with minimal effort means the open source machine worked exactly as it should have.

In fact, it's a damn good argument for why community Linux distros and open source are so freaking awesome.
