I might not be a country music fan, but I adore Dolly Parton and I am rather happy with the way her portrait is turning out ❤️ This is my small contribution to honor her memory. #RIP #Sketch #sketchbook #portrait #pencil #mastoArt #fediart #DollyParton #artist

Y'all. I'm pretty excited.

This is my first time ever trying an oil pastel portrait.

I think I'll do it again.

Tried anything new lately?

Replying to

@Gina@fosstodon.org honestly, for what concerns _required_ government interaction - like identity paperwork, taxes, or health, these functions should absolutely be priority for NOT working through Chrome or Google - For example, I often have to use Chrome browser instead of Firefox or Librewolf, bc the government sites simply don't function unless it's Chrome. Next priority = banks. I should not be required to have a phone at all to do banking, but if I do, I should be able to use GrapheneOS or other.

I hope y'all are not getting tired of my peony paintings! I can't get enough of all the petals 😍

Tonight in art class ✨️
I used the time to repeatedly attempt to create the variations of colors 😅

*message in a bottle, tossed in the ocean - but that's a #mastodon specialty, right?

I worked as a speech therapist for years, but stopped, and I am wondering if I can find anyone who might be interested in textbooks and/or tests?

- English language (some in French)
- I am in France, so I don't see shipping them - unless the receiver wants to pay, but I am willing to travel to meet (depending on situation)

*open to suggestions

@undead@masto.hackers.town on behalf of all people who actually want a more equitable world, thank you. No one has any reason _not_ to remove identifying info like name/address from resumés/CVs (oh, and pictures!) and I don't understand why it's not a requirement. @amydiehl@mstdn.social

I feel like folks who have common sense just need to state obvious truths like: Vaccines save lives. and put that message (and other similar) on repeat. Like - did you know: Vaccines save lives. Because, I thought this was obvious, but obviously a lot of people have.. forgotten? Didn't think about it enough? Because: Vaccines save lives. Would it work? Would some idiots out there go, huh, maybe Vaccines save lives. #health #WHO #world #vaccines

@Irenetherogue Come, we'll both go make something together. I send my encouragement, from someone who loves making art, but often hesitates, and has some supplies I've had wayyyyyy too long, unused. Let's create! It's all just trying, and it's just an exercise to try. Trying takes away the pressure, it's an experiment - can't wait to see what you create!

Replying to

@stevendotjs@hachyderm.io i feel for my cohort who tried to move forward by going for their masters.. I hope it works for them. I hope there are enough companies who see the mess AI creates cannot be trusted.. but humans tend to take the path of least resistance.. In truth, I was never a coder, so let's hope I can find other ways to feed myself and my family.. it's rough out here for everyone. @tante@tldr.nettime.org

@stevendotjs@hachyderm.io i applaud you, kind sir

I hilariously joined a web dev program in 2022, and when I completed it in 2024, I could see it was pointless trying to get a job as a Jr..

Your story resonates (also bc I'm a career changer so old enough to have other experiences that are similar) - it's both hilarious and stark.

Well done 👏

The truth is, loving is hard. Anyone. Everyone.
It takes effort. It isn't easy.

But it's worth it. And so are you. 😘

Replying to

@futurebird@sauropods.win my interpretation of the situation was that it was an exploratory commission that I deterred by cinnamon. Once I found them bc they'd eaten through the seal at a window - I poured cinnamon in the hole for good measure before I resealed it. 😆 🤣

Replying to

@futurebird@sauropods.win I like thinking there's an ant somewhere that likes cinnamon. But I had a friend who put cinnamon around the potted plant they were in bc she didn't want them going anywhere else, and it seemed to work 🤔
