I also fixed my #cannier: I'd been putting off repositioning the clamp after getting a new rack, it hadn't been working as solidly as I 'd wanted. I reverted to Ortliebs for a while but often I prefer hard case luggage systems. So the cannier is back on now, as indestructible as ever.

@timnitGebru@dair-community.social so true. I try to let my students feel that too: you have to learn to struggle. Nice thing about a good (undergrad) program: we're here to catch you when you fall. And get you back on your feet, same side of the struggle where you fell of :)
But it's hard to believe you need the struggle when solutions seem to grow at your fingertips...

#caturday breakfast is a festive occasion.
Did a thing yesterday. 175 teenagers, 12 #teachers, 30 microbiologists, a nurse and a pro cook celebrated the first #FermeScholen conference on food #fermentation and microbial literacy. Properly opened by a vice dean, keynote by prof. Sarah Lebeer, plenary session, fun workshops, conference swag and poster session with fancy drinks.
Kids loved it, workshoppers had a blast, our student poster jury did a fab job... 10/10 will do it again. Next week. #highereducation #Citizenscience #microbiology

Also: How can they not mention it in the 365 version? It turns out equally crappy slop, especially when used by untrained employees.

Today I ran into a colleague from the *biology department* with his mind still stuck on "all bacteria are bad" ?!
We really need everybody more open minded and critical / skeptic about the world around them.
Anyway: these kids now know the difference between the good , the bad and the ugly bacteria. Does that even exist: ugly bacteria?

JA! Sinds ik mijn groenten bij n groenteboer haal, valt mij pas écht op hoeveel plastic je eigenlijk koopt als ik toch 'ns naar de supermarkt moet. Allemaal plastic dat meteen voor de vuilbak is bovendien. Er moeten toch andere manieren zijn om groenten te bewaren en te transporteren, met minder single use plastic? Helaas zijn die vaak duurder, specifieker per groente, meer werk,...?

@pascaline het was ideaal fietsweer! Zonnetje, niet te warm maar precies goed om zonder jas te fietsen. Niet te veel wind. 't Is ook wel echt n heel mooi stukje, tussen al die overstromingsgebieden en met grotendeels vrij nieuw aangelegde asfaltpaden. Aanrader!

@timecowboy This one really gets me. As a firefighter I sometimes run into the dead people I encountered while on duty. I decided early on that I'd try to be friends with them.
When my father in law got dementia and got very confused about the little men he kept seeing in the room, I told him he could also befriend them. It really helped both him and his worried wife to be able to just be nice to his own little ghosts. As it helps me.

Wie morgennamiddag nog een hongertje heeft: in #Moerbeke staat 50 L pannenkoekendeeg klaar. En het meest legendarische, geoliede bakteam van het Waasland. (Ikzelf ben van team Kenwood, niet van team bakplaat). Hilda en haar vriendin verdienen uw blinde adoratie.
Met de pannenkoek in de hand kan je ineens ook evenhet wagenpark én het enthousiasme van de Moerbeekse brandweer bewonderen.
