Having a bit of a meltdown today, because life is lifing at me a bit hard at the moment… but a hangover would only make it all 1000 times worse. Cheers to seven fucking years of not slowly destroying myself!

@jackbrewster I broke up with a guy over it in 2017, literally ended the date when he told me he did not believe in vaccines. We had been together for a few months.
I think it is a reasonable convo to have with your son in 2026 unfortunately.
Today, my friend Stacey and I visited an orphan cemetery, tucked behind The Modern 1. So many babies and children used to die and we stopped so much of the loss. I feel like MAHA is a cult set on taking us back in time.

Is packing three boxes a good rate for prepping for a move? I just need 2 to 3 hours of rest between each box. Totally normal. Super productive.

@thepurpleoctopus@lgbtqia.space I’m moving to The Hague next month! This makes me more excited for my move from Edinburgh

@Luke@typo.social I love them. I did not have a yard when I lived on Bainbridge, these would have been perfect for “indoor” plants…

@Alice@beige.party I like my nails to look nice and also detest the feeling of long nails. Curious to hear how they hold up.

@Luke@typo.social I have a little 3D printed figurine of my favorite barbarian character from Hero Forge. My friend printed and painted based on my design. She has an axe in one hand and a 20 sided die in another.

@amcvittie @oldredsubby 100%. I think this skill made me great at leadership but also is why endless enterprise Zoom meetings drained me so much.

@Luke@typo.social It already is! Got in a walk with @jeffwatkins@mastodon.social , had an iced coffee, visited a stationery store, had a pedicure, and it is in the upper 60s and sunny here. Feeling very grateful.

@elizayer@mastodon.social Absolutely. I have been describing it as focusing on bigger engines without fixing steering or replacing tires. Boats work too. Everything is so short-term focused!

@fahrni@curmudgeon.cafe Thank you for respecting that marginalized community with your apology. They have enough issues with Wonka taking out their union and replacing them with robots.

@RobW@iosdev.space 100%. It was a shock when I realized they are totally different birds. The ones here are so much cuter and so friendly. I often chat with them and feel like a cartoon princess when they chatter back.

@octothorpe@mastodon.online I remember reading in a history book about a man who died from an infection after cutting himself while trimming his toenails. I have a lot of issues with our modern world but I often think about how at least a nick on the toe isn’t going to put us 6 ft under anymore. Unless RFK outlaws antibiotics, who knows?!

@elizayer@mastodon.social Yeah, it was a tough year for him. He is getting an MSc in Computer Science now, doubling down on it and seeing if he can restart the clock on internships and new grad roles. I really, really hope his new network in the UK can help him more. 2024 in the Bay Area was such a womp womp for these kids who did see it as a sure thing. I got here via liberal arts, so who knows…

@apodoxus@mastodon.online Also valid. Long before the whole “Roman Empire” thing last year, I thought about the fall of Rome and the US. I minored in Mediaeval Literature and spent a lot of time wondering how Europe went from being so advanced to the Dark Ages. This all peaking just after a global pandemic feels on point after the Black Plague and the rise of Fascism after the 1918 pandemic.
