Baby turkeys in my yard! They're so effing cute. The noise is the sound of the wind. Storms are blowing in. The video is a momma turkey minding 4 chicks. They're walking on my front lawn.
Went to square dancing again tonight and I had a blast. Something cool happens when it all works. It's teamwork and challenging, enough that you appreciate everyone you're dancing with. Everyone knows what they're doing & they're where they should be when they should be. It flows & it's just.. fun. I remember just enough that I could right myself quickly & at the same time I've forgotten enough that I needed to pay attention and follow instructions. Not of my strengths, tbh. Sigh.

85% of my family lives in the towns that were flooded in West Virginia on Wednesday. While all are safe, many of my family & friends lost their homes and businesses.
This is not a wealthy area. These are hard working people. And no one hears about the devastation or cares because it's #WestVirginia
My Dad is buried under those flood waters and we still do not know the condition of the #cemetery. He wouldn't care about himself. As a first responder, he would tell us to stop worrying about him and help as many others as we can. So that is what I am doing.

I've been to Fenway a few times, once to watch the Yankees lose (ugh) & a couple times to see the Sox play because we were in town. It's a magical ball park regardless of who you're cheering for.

@TheVinylApe@cupoftea.social 🤣🤣🤣 I wasn't a baseball fan at all until I met my husband. His entire family is from NY. One of our 1st dates was going to Yankee Stadium. We had seats right behind 1st base. We were late so the game had started. Walking out of the tunnel to get to our seats was a life changer. Roger Clemens was on the mound. The stadium was rocking. Beautiful summer night. It was my 1st time seeing a professional sports game & I was hooked. 🤷🏻♀️

Last night I was getting undressed. Started pulling my sweater over my head & heard this crunchy ligament sound come out of my right shoulder, just as I got it over my head. Didn't hurt then but it was not a noise that usually comes out of that body part. This morning it's sore.🙄 (Managed to do my Pilates also this morning so I guess it's not "call the doctor" awful. Also, go me for doing my Pilates. I can hear my therapist gently saying, "Exercise IS the reward, Heidi.") #HealthyShit #exercise

With what I post every day I'm sure no one's shocked that I've gained weight. I need to either buy new clothes for spring/summer or lose 15lbs.
Making a pavlova for the 1st time. I'm trying to be patient, waiting for stiff peaks in my egg whites but its taking forever. Photo is what the inside of my mixer looks like while whipping egg whites, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla bean paste. On my #Ankarsrum mixer the center spins fast. Movement shows in the photo.

Make your dough tonight. Let it rise on the counter (in a covered bowl, don't be a heathen) for 2 hours, then chuck it in the fridge until about 3-4 hours before you're going to make it on Friday. The flavor will develop beautifully.

I'm almost finished listening to an #audiobook called How To Read A Book by Monica Wood. It's not my usual read (romance) but I'm glad I gave this book a chance. The characters are complex and deeply messy. Some of the reviews complained about the book but humans are human. They make bad life choices and mistakes that ripple outward, affecting others. But there's also room for forgiveness and a chance at redemption. #bookstodon
I found out today that there's no culinary classes available in the fall for the certificate program I'm low key attempting to finish. I could drive an hour to the next closest campus that offers what I need but... Just no.
