@EI3JDB the missing link for me was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garibaldi_biscuit — I know them better as fruit biscuits, or the most popular brand name in the Netherlands growing up: "Sultanas" (which is confusing in itself since that's probably just the variety if raisins in them).

@finitebaffle as further visual aids, here are the detergent compartments for my current and old laundry machine, and the programme display of my current laundry machine. See image descriptions for details.
But these are just 2 of an endless variation of designs I guess, though I think most laundry machines have similar markings.
One thing to note btw is that you shouldn't fill the fabric softener above the max level, because you'll trigger the Pythagorean siphon mechanism that would drain the entire compartment. Usually this happens when the machine adds water to it during the appropriate cycle (which I assume is the Rinse cycle? not sure actually). @finitebaffle pre-wash is for your oxi-action or similar, and should only be used on programmes that actually include the pre-wash cycle. One mine it's a function you can enable on select programmes; it will then first run a (usually shorter) cycle with the detergent from your pre-wash compartment.
Unfortunately since liquid detergents in your main wash compartment have a tendency to already run down into your drum during this cycle, it's best to only use pre-wash if you use a powder for your main cycle, or else your main cycle is likely to be without detergent. Same with pods you load in the drum with your laundry.
Pre-wash compartment is usually marked with "1" or "I", and the main wash compartment with a "2" or "II". Softener tends to be a flower icon, and on the machines I've had, usually had a different coloured compartment.
Softeners also have a tendency to be terrible for your laundry machine... So best to avoid them altogether. Or try some vinegar instead.

@monkeyben@mastodon.sdf.org they are basically a bit more advanced version of a walker with 3 or 4 wheels, and usually add-ons such as handbrakes, adjustable height, lightweight, and sturdier. Some models can even be used to sit on, or can come with a shopping basket. It's a lovely invention of Swedish origin.

Also, worth to note, across the EU it happens at 01:00 UTC, so while for all those that are in the CET timezone, that would be 02:00 local time, for Britain that would for example be 01:00.

@CppGuy@infosec.space I know; I just kept them in a separate bag and when enough spares had piled up, I'd sit down to try to pair them up again.
That is, till I just replaced most of them with basically just one kind of plain black ones for summer, and nice long woolen ski socks for the colder days.
