@daisy A few months back I was doing a code review and mid file found a block of text stating something to the effect of “place rest of code here”. Just middle of the function, like it was meant to be code. And of course it wouldn’t build. And this is even when we have a corporate policy of not sending our code to an AI… It’s so exhausting.

@tante I know devs that are saying if AI makes them 10-20% more productive it is worth it. And there’s a rejection of the ethical implications of the technology. I’m thankful I’m on the tail end of my career.

And just how high above the letters do they need to build this thing? Total bullshit. My bet is this is all delay until SCOTUS weighs in and says the name stays.

Well, that’s a choice. Gitlab decides that agents will plan, code, review, and repair. How are humans meant to have “… deep understanding of the customer problem…?”

Oh, wait, I misread the statement. Customers are the problem. And the humans at Gitlab apparently understand that. It all makes so much more sense now.

I’m in middle of quarter on a class at UCLA extension. thankfully we have light requirements on the platform. I can only imagine the panic for students in a degree program. Thank you for putting this out to help calm people, and highlighting the potential for phishing and scams in this turbulent moment. Cool heads everyone! Stay wary and stay sharp!

@temporal_spider @emilymbender @404mediaco I was just at Dr yesterday and once again was asked to allow this. Said no and had the same surprised response. I explained a little but they were not interested. The part i worry about most is a lack of attention from the Dr. they will train themselves to rely on the AI summary and will stop actively listening.

We’re heading back to an originalist view of no rights for anyone except the white landed. Please accept a virtual hug. I’m switching to shaving soap and am looking for a ceramic shaving mug. I’d like get something more interesting than I could find at big market capturing shopping site(s). Any suggestions on a potter or maker/crafter site I could find something? I thought I had a couple sites bookmarked but now can’t find URLs.
