Avatar: I have pale skin, blue eyes, glasses, long gray hair.
Header: My original art of the Isopata Minoan seal ring, a ritual trance-dance scene with four priestesses, in bright colors and a schematized style.
I've been busy with some fiber arts while waiting for the weather to finish warming up for gardening season. I'm finally most of the way through this Gulf Coast Native fleece (a whole fleece - that's a lot of wool!) that I dyed with butternut hulls and coffee. It feels like it's taking forever, since I only have time to work on it every now and then. I'm looking forward to starting on the knitting-a-sweater phase of the project.
Thinned the squash seedlings that I'm growing in cups to transplant into the garden later on. The thinnings will go in stir-fry. Did you know that squash leaves are edible? There's so much food out there that we don't eat simply due to custom and habit.
Signs of spring: a lovely little clump of henbit blooming at the base of my mailbox. I love the tiny cheerful flowers, and the few intrepid bees I've seen flying around this week appreciate the nectar.
Collard blooms sure are pretty. I'll be saving the seeds from this plant - it was remarkably robust and lived for three years instead of the usual two.
I'm delighted to announce that all my books are now available at Bookshop dot org in ebook as well as print format. So you can support local, independent bookstores even if you prefer ebooks.

I admit it: I wrote a self-help book. I'm not too keen on the impossible tasks and toxic positivity that so many of them spout, so I wrote one that's for us ordinary mortals with all our imperfections and lack of time and energy.
It's not just for Wiccans; the publisher of the first edition insisted on that word in the title and I had no choice. It's for anyone who feels a sacred connection with the Earth and the environment and who wants to bring that connection and its meaning into the way they take care of themselves, body and soul.

"The FBI was able to forensically extract copies of incoming Signal messages from a defendant’s iPhone, even after the app was deleted, because copies of the content were saved in the device’s push notification database…."
This is disturbing. Be careful out there, y'all!
This week’s Minoan Tarot cards. This deck is my creation, made the old-fashioned way (ink on paper) and available at bookstores everywhere.
Balance: This card stands for moderation, compromise, and the middle ground. It can include the give-and-take of relationships as well as a healthy equilibrium between work and play, exercise and rest, and other areas of life. Look for where your life is out of balance and seek to restore the equilibrium.
Judgment: It’s time to make some hard choices. Choose based on what you know is right, regardless of what anyone else thinks. There may be no “perfect choice.” Do the best you can given the circumstances. Life isn’t perfect.
For those who are new to these card draws, each week I pull one card from the top of the deck and a second card from the bottom. The top-of-the-deck card (the first one, on the left) gives us some helpful hints about how to navigate our week. The bottom-of-the-deck card (the second one, on the right) is the “secret treasure” that can help us find joy in these Interesting Times.
My new favorite hashtag.

Maid of Horns: Stay grounded. View the world from a down-to-earth, practical perspective, using the rational facts to make your decisions. Friendships, more than romantic inclinations, provide you with the connections you need to stay grounded this week. Do your best not to get bogged down in details, and of course take other people’s feelings seriously. But practicality trumps wishful thinking by a long shot, so stick to material-world analysis when deciding which way to go.
Two of Horns: Life shifts from day to day, whether we like it or not. Expect short-term changes in fortune or in the material arrangement of life. There will be gains to offset any losses, either literal or figurative. But change and motion are real, and this card calls on you to join in the dance, skip along with the parade, go with the flow. The changes are for the good, even if the upheaval is hard to handle at the moment. Be flexible, focus on the positive, and you’ll make it through this time before you know it.

I wrote this book at the request of the Ariadne's Tribe community. It's a guide to inclusive Minoan spirituality for the solitary practitioner, with rituals, devotionals, the pantheon and the sacred calendar - and even some crafts!
More details, including plenty of places to find it that aren't named after a South American river:
